2016 Camp Card Guidebook For Unit Leaders Picture Or Pictures From Camp What s Inside What s a Camp Card? Key Dates & FAQ s Commission, Return Policy, Sale Support How to Sell Camp Cards Cards & Camp Advancement Opportunity
The Camp Card Sale This initiative is designed to help Scouts earn their way to Cub Scout Day Camp, Webelos Resident Camp, Boy Scout Resident Camp, National High Adventure Activities, purchase new camping equipment, etc. This year we have a card for Cub Scouts / Boy Scouts and a different card for Venturers / Sea Scouts and Explorers Cub Scouts / Boy Scouts Venturers / Sea Scouts / Explorers Units participating in this program will earn 50% Commission ($2.50) on each $5.00 Camp Card they sell. The sale begins in March and ends June 30, This program is RISK FREE; units pay NOTHING UP FRONT and simply return any unsold / undamaged cards at settlement on or before July 15, HARD WORKING SCOUTS DESERVE TO GO TO CAMP! EARNING YOUR OWN WAY IS AN IMPORTANT VALUE EVERY SCOUT SHOULD LEARN.
Key Dates and FAQ s March order and pick up cards March June 30 th - sell July 15, settlement Q: How do I get my cards? A: A unit registers and orders a specific number of cards. The unit leadership distributes their cards to the Scouts to sell. Q: Can I sell Camp Cards if my unit does not? A: Yes, you complete the same forms and follow the same rules as the unit. You are a Single Seller Q: When does the sale take place? A: The sale is meant to take place from March to June 30, All sales must be settled by July 15, Q: How many cards should I order? A: Units should set a goal based on the number of Scouts going to camp. Units might want to set goals for Scouts to pay a certain portion of their trip to camp by selling Camp Cards. Q: What are the rules for returning unsold cards? A: Units can return unsold, intact cards. Returns are due along with payment by July 15, Q: Can I get more cards once the sale is underway? A: Yes, a unit can order additional cards if they run out. Q: How do I start my sale? A: Begin with your immediate family members: parents, cousins, grandparents, aunts and uncles, etc. Q: Where should Scouts sell these cards? A: Church, neighborhoods, parent s workplace, local businesses, community / sponsoring organization festivals Q: My unit is going somewhere else for summer camp, can we participate in this? A: Yes, a unit can use its share of the proceeds of this sale toward any Scouting adventure it chooses. Q: Can a Scout wear his uniform while selling Camp Cards? A: Yes, this is a council approved money earning project. So, like the popcorn sale, a Scout is encouraged to wear his uniform while working on the sale.
Commission You get a commission of $2.50 per card sold if your unit is paid in full by 5 pm on July 15, Units do not have to pay for any cards up front. Return Policy Camp Cards can be returned to The Scout shops, with the proper paperwork, without penalty by July 15, The cards MUST be in New condition. NO cards will be accepted for return after July 15, We reserve the right to refuse products that have been damaged or rendered unsellable. The unit is responsible for ANY unreturned cards, lost, misplaced, damaged, etc. Be sure that Scouts and parents treat each card as if it were a $5.00 bill. Sale support Linda Mickel, ext. 258, Linda.mickel@scouting.org
How to Sell Camp Cards Don t miss the opportunity to use the Camp Cards Sale to train your Scouts in public speaking and salesmanship. Your Scouts and their parents will appreciate the effort and your sales will improve. Have Scouts role play and practice during your Camp Card Sale Kick-off. For a Successful Sale: Wear your Scout uniform. Smile and tell them, who you are FIRST NAME ONLY. Tell them what Scout unit you are with. Tell them why you are selling Camp Cards. Tell them what they can do to help (buy Camp Card(s)). Close the sale and always say Thank You. 3 Methods to Sell Camp Cards Door to Door take your Sales Kit for a trip around the neighborhood. Don t forget local businesses. Show and Sell set up a booth in front of a local business and sell Camp Cards on the spot. PLEASE DO NOT LOCATIONS ON THE CARD! Sell at Work a great way for mom and dad to help their Scout. Safety and Courtesy Sell with another Scout or with your parents. Never enter anyone s home. Never sell after dark, unless with an adult. Don t carry large amounts of cash. Say Thank You whether or not the customer buys a Camp Card.

Here is how the program works... The Camp Cards are picked up by the unit in March. The Camp Master explains the camp card program to the Scouts and helps them set a goal for the amount they want to earn. The Scouts sell the cards through June 30, 2016 If a customer wants to pay for a card(s) with a check, the check must be made out to the unit, NOT Patriots Path Council. The unit returns any unused cards and payment for the sold cards no later than July 15, 2016 to the Cedar Knolls office. If not settled by this date the unit has purchased the unsold cards. Here is how the 50% commission is earned: - 30% for placing an order - 20% for the on time settlement of the order, no later than 5:00 pm, July 15, The unit only pays the $2.50 per card sold, checks are made payable to Patriots Path Council. I have read the points above and we agree to follow the plan. Signature Return this form to Linda Mickel, Patriots Path Council, either 1) Leave it with the Scout Shop staff 2) Fax it to or 3) Register online at or go to select Council Calendar, go to link on June 30, For additional information or questions please , Mark.spaldo@scouting.org
