The CEI rates companies and top law firms on detailed criteria falling under five broad categories: - Non-discrimination policies - Demonstrated organizational competency and accountability around LGBT supplier diversity and inclusion - Employment benefits - Public commitment to LGBT equality - Responsible citizenship The 2016 CEI rated 851 companies up from 781 in the 2015 report. The report also unofficially rated 176 Fortune 500 companies, which have yet to respond to the CEI survey about their LGBT policies and practices. California companies consistently ranked high in the survey. Of the 100 companies ranked in the state, 57 earned 100%, 13 earned 90% or above, and 11 earned 80% or above. 511 companies participating in this year s CEI now offer transgender workers at least one healthcare plan that has transgender-inclusive coverage. That s a 150 percent increase since 2012, when the CEI first included trans-inclusive health care as a requisite for companies to receive a perfect score. Additionally, gender identity is now part of non-discrimination policies at 75 percent of Fortune 500 companies, up from just 3 percent in More than 330 major employers have adopted supportive inclusion guidelines for transgender workers who are transitioning. HRC envisions a world where LGBT people are embraced as full members of society at home, at work and in every community. PG&E celebrated Women Entrepreneurs and Girls in STEM On Thursday, May 14th, PG&E joined other Bay Area corporations for the Enterprising Women Foundation s Mentoring Young Women Entrepreneur (YEW ) Dinner: Celebrating Women Entrepreneurs and Girls in STEM. This motivational evening focused on women in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM). The event was sponsored in conjunction with Women Impacting Public Policy (WIPP) and the Women President s Organization (WPO). The participants heard from an inspirational panel of women who have made it in their industries. They shared how they overcame the unique barriers they encountered on the road to their success. Also, the Enterprising Women s Foundation celebrated several high school girls from diverse backgrounds embarking on similar paths by creating products and services in STEM or STEM-related fields at part of their Mentoring YEW Program. PG&E receives WBENC s Gold Distinction Award as one of America s Top Corporations for Women s Business Enterprises PG&E once again supported the Women Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC) Summit and Salute that took place in Phoenix, AZ., from March 23rd and 24th. This year, PG&E was recognized with Gold Distinction for the work that we do to enable growth and reduce barriers for women-owned businesses. This level of distinction is an improvement from last year and second only to Platinum Distinction. Laurie Giammona, Sr. VP & COO attended to accept the award on behalf of the company. At the event, she participated in an energy/utility round table, 1:1 matchmaker meetings and multiple networking sessions. 3 PG&E Won the Western Regional Minority Supplier Development Council 2016 Utility of the Year Award and Supplier Diversity Leader of the Year Gun Shim, VP of Supply Chain David Pell, Supply Chain Responsibility Consultant, Expert Western Regional Minority Supplier Development Council s (WRMSDC) 2016 Excellence in Supplier Diversity Awards Gala brings together minority businesses and corporate members for dinner, dancing, and awards. On April 15th, the WRMSDC recognized Supplier Diversity professionals as well as celebrated the achievements of the individuals and companies who have demonstrated exceptional commitment to providing quality service and promoting minority participation. This year, PG&E was the recipient of the 2016 Utility of the Year award. David Pell, won the 2016 Supplier Diversity Leader of the Year award. PG&E Supports Veteran Small Business On April 27th, PG&E sponsored Operation Opportunity, a three-hour intensive workshop on launching, funding, growing and securing veteran-owned business. The workshop, in support of San Francisco Small Business Week, took place at the historic War Memorial Veterans Building in San Francisco. The event was a joint effort in partnership with the US Small Business Administration, the City of San Francisco and Vet Matchmaking included panel discussions on capital opportunities, business certification & compliance, selling to the government & major corporations, and making your business more cyber-secure. David Pell, from PG&E was a panelist along with Lori Falkenstrom from U.S. General Services Administration; Thomas Lutzenberge from Cal Fire; Osayahde Nesbit from Caltrans; Tim Evan from Comcast; and Carole Bionda from Nova Group. Each panelist provided a short overview of their organization s buying needs, opportunities for small business and efforts to create opportunities for veteran-owned businesses. The overviews were followed with a Q&A session during which the panelists provided tips on the best approach for growing their businesses. The day culminated with a business networking session during which the veteran business owners were able to talk directly with the panelist to learn more about specific business opportunities with their organizations. Over the years, PG&E has been recognized for its leadership in supporting veteran employment and entrepreneurship, said Mr. Pell. I am very honored to have the opportunity to be part of opening doors for the men and women of our armed forces who have given so much defending our country. 3

4 Diverse Supplier Profile Gravity Pro Consulting Gravity Pro Consulting, a woman-owned business has leveraged their very unique strategic partnership with SAP to provide benefits to PG&E for both SAP software licenses and services. Gravity Pro Consulting is the #1 SAP Value Added Reseller. When PG&E is considering SAP Software Selection, Gravity Pro Consulting has contributed to bringing executive alignment between SAP and PG&E, validating the solution, and working thru many details with SAP where it saves time and effort for PG&E. SAP Success Factors and SAP Ariba are a few examples of how the partnership has been successful. Gravity Pro Consulting also supports PG&E education through event sponsorship such as Innovations Days, Ariba Live, Sap4Utilities, TechEd, and Sapphire. Gravity Pro Consulting brings together resources from SAP and non-sap together. As technology expands into several niche components, the ability to bring experts together as one team is critical. Gravity Pro also works closely with the SAP services team to deliver ad hoc consulting SAP resource requests from IT. In addition, Gravity Pro has been a part of bringing mobility and GIS experts together at PG&E over the last 12 months on projects such as Mariner and is about to begin the latest project Pole Test and Treat Mobility Upgrade. Gravity Pro is a Federal Government GSA (EDWOSB) Economically Disadvantaged Woman-Owned Small Business. Gravity Pro has designed, developed and deployed systems technology and services for companies such as Nestle, Rolex, Southern California Edison, Under Armour, and Keen. PG&E Supports the National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO) Annual Conference On April 25th-26th, the National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO) held their California annual conference Ready, Set, Propel Your Business. NAWBO California is a federation consisting of 10 NAWBO chapters in the Golden State. It supports the growth and development of women-owned businesses through education, marketing and public relations. David Pell, PG&E s Supply Chain Responsibility Consultant, participated on a panel focused on helping women-owned businesses market more effectively to large corporations. The panel was moderated by Diane McClelland, President/CEO; Astra Women s Business Alliance. The panel members included: Stephanie Green, CPUC, Utility Supplier Diversity, Business and Outreach Supervisor; Sandra James, Private Eyes, Inc.; and Yolanda Padilla, Supplier Diversity Program Manager, Sempra Energy. The panel received very positive feedback that the participants had picked up some valuable marketing tips that they could use immediately. 4

5 The Supply Chain Responsibility Awards is an annual event that began in 2003 as a breakfast and business matchmaking event held at our San Francisco offices. The Supply Chain Responsibility Awards recognize the outstanding individual and team contributions that have enabled us to meet and exceed our goals in supply chain sustainability and supplier diversity. Over the years it has grown and is now the largest annual PG&E Supplier Diversity event now held at The Julia Morgan Ballroom. We continue to grow this event as PG&E s Supplier Diversity and Sustainability programs grow and the number of contributors to our success grows. Harold Pestana won the President s Award at the Supply Chain Responsibility Awards (L-R) John Simon, EVP Corporate Services & Human Resources; Harold Pestana, Acting Director, Core Gas Supply; Des Bell, Sr. VP Safety and Shared Services The New Face in PG&E Supply Chain Responsibility Tiffany Rodriguez joined our team this past March. She has worked in the utility industry for 16 years and joins us from Arizona Public Service (APS) where she held positions in customer service, T&D, renewables, and most recently as a buyer and then supplier diversity coordinator in supply chain. She also managed the APS Supply Chain Sustainability initiative and worked with PG&E on Electric Utility Industry Sustainable Supply Chain Alliance (EUISSCA) committees over the last few years. Tiffany received her undergraduate degree in Leadership (2008) and her MBA focused in Supply Chain (2012), both from Arizona State University. Also, she holds certificates as Certified Professional Supply Management and Certified Professional of Supplier Diversity from the Institute of Supply Management. Her efforts in Supplier Diversity helped APS develop an innovative supplier training program and they were awarded the Innovation Award from the Edison Electric Institute in Tiffany s role will be focused on further developing our supply chain sustainability efforts as well as supplier diversity for our nuclear line of business. She will also support our Hispanic/ Latino community partners. 5

6 Long-time PG&E champion of supplier diversity retiring this year With more than 37 years at PG&E, Rudy Promani, a Principal Sourcing Category Lead for Shared Services- Environmental and one of our strongest supplier diversity and sustainability champions, will be retiring this upcoming August Throughout his career, Rudy consistently advocated for supply chain responsibility. His commitment to championing supplier diversity and sustainability resulted many internal and external awards. We want to honor Rudy s contributions by highlighting some of these recognitions. Most recently, Rudy was honored externally as one of 2016 s MBN USA Corporate Buyers of the Year. Not only does he achieve over 50 percent in annual diverse spend for his category, he is also one of Supply Chain Responsibility s most active and supportive super ambassadors. Each year, Rudy volunteers and participates in a number of supplier diversity outreach events, where he has mastered the art of identifying and matching qualified suppliers with potential business opportunities. In addition, Rudy is committed to coaching prospective suppliers on how to do business with PG&E. In 2007, Rudy was the first employee to win the prestigious President s Award at PG&E s Supplier Diversity Achievement Awards, an annual event that celebrates the supplier diversity accomplishments of PG&E individuals and teams. The President s Award, the event s most distinguished recognition, is given to one individual each year that best exemplifies role model leadership in supplier diversity. Since then, Rudy has been nominated numerous times and received three additional awards at the annual internal awards ceremony, now known as PG&E s Annual Supply Chain Responsibility Awards. In 2011, Rudy received an Individual Award for his pivotal role in strategically sourcing and building aggressive 40 percent supplier diversity goals for $150 million in environmental remediation, licensing and permitting contracts. He achieved this through developing diverse suppliers and ensuring accountability from his prime suppliers. In 2014, Rudy received the Ambassador of the Year Award for his invaluable work supporting supplier diversity events and his expertise in connecting prospective diverse suppliers with PG&E opportunities. In 2016, Rudy was recognized again, this time as part of the team that supported the Street Light Replacement and Recycling Project. This three-year initiative recycled 140 thousand high pressure sodium vapor street lights and replaced them with more affordable and energy efficient LED bulbs. The project utilized a diverseowned recycling vendor and saved the company approximately $6.8 million and 53 kwh in annual grid energy savings. This is the equivalent of avoiding 40 thousand tons of carbon dioxide emissions annually. Rudy held many different positions over the course of his PG&E career, including: Chemical Technologist at the Pittsburg Power Plant; Plant Chemist and Environmental Health and Safety Supervisor at Geysers Power Plant; Senior Environmental Coordinator for the Mission Trail Region; Manager Environmental Field Services for both General Services and as part of the Environmental Affairs organization. Since joining Supply Chain in 2005, Rudy has supported the Environmental Remediation, Licensing and Permitting portfolio most recently as the Principal Category Lead. Rudy s depth and variety of knowledge has made him a very valuable collaborator with Supply Chain Responsibility. Rudy spends his free time fishing, boating and being with his family. In September of this year, Rudy and his wife Lisa will celebrate 35 years of marriage. Together, they raised 3 sons: John 30, Greg 28 and Eric 24. Rudy was the first generation in his family to be born in the United States. He was also the first in his family to earn a college and graduate degree, a BS in Biology (with a concentration in Marine Biology and Ecology) from Cal-State East Bay and a MS in Environmental Management from the University of San Francisco. Rudy s dedication and hard work at PG&E show a true commitment to PG&E s responsibly-managed supply chain one that is diverse and sustainable.
