Take charge of how and who you communicate and network with to increase business and personal success. Lynn will share personal experiences and tips and techniques to help you strengthen your communication and networking skills. Speaker: Lynn Mortensen, STEM Advocate & Volunteer Lynn Mortensen is currently following her passion as a STEM advocate and volunteer after spending 30 plus years in the aerospace and defense industry. She started her career as a Computer Scientist with a degree from California State Polytechnic University Pomona. She retired from the Raytheon Company in 2013 having held many positions within the company in program management, product development and engineering management including vice president of engineering of a $3B business segment. During her career, Lynn was the recipient of several awards including the Malcom R. Currie Innovation Award and Raytheon Womens Network Woman to Watch Award. In 2011, she was selected as a Woman Worth Watching in Technology from the Diversity Journal. Lynn was selected by the Society of Women Engineers for the 2017 Spark Award for her contributions to the advancement through mentorship of women at all levels.

2 Lynn is active in the community promoting STEM education through her participation as a member of the Tech Titans STEM Talent Team, the UTD Jonsson School of Engineering Industry Advisory Council, the UTA Engineering School Board of Advisors, Collin College Department of Engineering, High Tech High Heels, BEST Robotics and Dallas Society of Women Engineers. Lynn is also a member of the STEM Advisory Council for the Girl Scouts of Northeast Texas (GSNETX). Lynn continues to share her experiences with the next generation of engineers in the hope of increasing the number and diversity of engineers for the future. Tutorial 1: OE is a Lot Like Intrapreneurship This topic would prepare those who want to take an active participation in Operational Excellence roles/teams. It will foster a framework of its desired talents plus more clear roles and responsibilities. The discussion will also serve the need of OE leaders in any organization in terms of retaining talents and make the best out of those elite on their teams. Key take-aways: Skillset needed as a practitioner: Many job descriptions can hardly capture the essence of OE roles. Some would hire fresh-out college graduates as OE players. What is the skillset needed to qualify, survive or triumph on OE job? Career path and preparation: Most landed themselves in OE teams, but soon found out they are no longer entitled to a pivotal profession or a traditional career development path. So how do people grow? Where and how so? Holes and speedbumps: How structurally OE belongs is also very challenging. As a result, many firms fail to incorporate OE into its existing org. Speaker: Jon Huang, Vice President, Fidelity Investments. Jon joined Fidelity Investments as Vice President since His executive responsibility includes developing a Kaizen culture, driving innovation, strategizing continuous improvement in operations, as well as owning a Lean & Six Sigma training program across Fidelity. Prior to Fidelity, Jon managed the strategy for Lenovo Products Group after he successfully established a LSS consulting practice for Lenovo. Before

3 that, Mr. Huang served Motorola at various technical and leadership positions since 1996 where Jon led a virtual Six Sigma organization and sponsored the Motorola Asian Business Council for Southwestern Region. Currently, Mr. Huang is an adjunct faculty at the Business School of University of Texas at Dallas (UTD) since He has coauthored books, papers, and industry standards, as well as served as advisory board members at universities and international organizations. Jon is a Co-Chair of University of Maryland s Alumni s Association Dallas Chapter, and an active member of NAAAP, PMI, and ASQ. He has Master s degrees in Mechanical Sci. and Reliability Sci. from UMD in 2000, then earned MBA from University of Dallas in Currently, he is pursuing MS. of Th. at Dallas Theological Seminary (DTS) since Mr. Huang is married with two boys living in Southlake, Texas, where he passionately coaches his son s baseball and robotics team, and serves as a lay-pastor at church.
