2 THE EVENT The 2018 Real Estate Industry Hold em for Life Charity Challenge will be held on Thursday, April 5, 2018 at the Ritz Carlton Hotel in Toronto The event is a unique evening of fun and friendly competition, attended by close to 400 top executives from Canada s leading real estate firms. This unique and exciting event provides an atmosphere that is particularly conducive to networking. The evening kicks off with a cocktail reception in the Ritz Carlton Grand Foyer, followed by a night of Texas Hold em poker played in an authentic Monte Carlo-style atmosphere. Players compete for incredible non-cash prizes and bragging rights as Hold em for Life Champion. No formal experience is required and novices often do as well as experienced players. THE CAUSE In 2006, the Hold em for Life Charity Challenge was created as a platform for bringing real estate industry leaders together for a unique evening of entertainment and fundraising. Hold em for Life Charity Challenge is an entirely volunteer run nonprofit organization that has raised over 30 million to fund cancer research and other initiatives at Mount Sinai Hospital, SickKids Hospital, Ronald McDonald House, Princess Margaret Hospital and Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre. Over 85% of all funds raised by Hold em for Life Charity Challenge have gone directly to fund cancer research and other initiatives. This year, in addition to raising funds for cancer research, we have started a fellowship program for young doctors and researchers starting their career, in an effort to keep world-class talent right here in Toronto. Breast cancer research at Mount Sinai Hospital and Prostate cancer research at Princess Margaret Cancer Centre have been selected as the beneficiaries of the 2018 Real Estate Industry Hold em for Life event.

6 A ROYAL FLUSH RESEARCH WINS FUNDED BY HOLD EM Since 2007, Hold em for Life Charity Challenge has funded life-saving breast cancer and prostate cancer research at Mount Sinai Hospital and Princess Margaret Hospital. Hold em for Life support has contributed in the following meaningful ways: Over 50 published Hold em for Life scientific research papers and scientific presentations Funded many trainee scientists including medical students, clinical fellows, graduate students and post doctoral fellows. Hold em for Life is formalizing their funding of future scientists through a Fellowship Program with sponsor recognition Funded worldleading experts in the linkage between obesity, metabolism, inflammation, and cancer leading pioneering studies on the benefit of using metformin (an inexpensive diabetes drug) as part of cancer treatment Funded numerous clinical trials and laboratory research on a collaborative basis with researchers on a multidisciplinary basis (basic research, translational research and clinical) from numerous institutions including Mount Sinai Hospital, Princess Margaret Hospital, Sunnybrook Hospital, University of Toronto and Women s College Hospital and with involvement and collaboration of scientists from MD Anderson and other internationally renowned institutions Funded a Breast Cancer Biorepository at Mount Sinai Hospital and a Prostate Cancer Biorepository at Princess Margaret Hospital (which includes clinical patient information, samples of cancers, and blood specimens obtained from thousands of cancer patients) which will underpin critical research into factors that lead to cancer recurrence and treatment response Ø Ø Hold em for Life funds have also facilitated major funding from external sources including Breast Cancer Research Fund and Canadian Cancer Society Research Institute
