Cll.1ptt1 THE LINKS, INCORPORATED April 18, 2016 Sau Francisco Chapter Since 195() Mr. Thomas E. Horn President c/o Ms. Jennifer E. Norris Assistant Managing Director/Executive Secretary San Francisco War Memorial and Performing Arts Center 401 Van Ness Avenue, Room 11 O San Francisco, CA Re: Colors of Christmas Concerts Dear Mr. Horn: Based on information provided on your website, the San Francisco Symphony (the "Symphony") is a tenant of the San Francisco War Memorial and Performing Arts Center (the "Center"), a department of the City and County of San Francisco. As landlord to the Symphony, the San Francisco (CA) Chapter of The Links, Incorporated ("SF Links;') wishes to express its strong objection to the cancellation by the Symphony of the annual holiday Colors of Christmas Concerts. The Links, Incorporated, celebrating 70 years of service, is a premier international, nonprofit volunteer service organization. Built upon a legacy of friends and providing service that changes lives, the organization is committed to enriching, sustaining and ensuring the cultural and economic survival of African Americans and other persons of African ancestry. The Bay Area is home to
8 over 505 Links members of the nearly 14,000 professional women of color in 282 chapters located in 41 states, the District of Columbia, and the Commonwealth of the Bahamas. Dedicated to its mission of service and leadership, The Links, lncorporated's members are corporate and civic leaders; attorneys, lawmakers and judiciary; medical and healthcare providers; and role models, mentors, activists and volunteers working tirelessly at the forefront of transforming communities of color. Working closely with sponsors, partners and supporters, The Links, Incorporated develops and implements transformational programming impacting lives in communities of color through key programming initiatives organized into facets: Services to Youth, The Arts, National Trends and Services, International Trends and Services, and Health and Human Services. The members of SF Links, and their guests, have been attending the Colors of Christmas Concerts at Davies Symphony Hall for over 20 years. The concert is a wonderful and traditional start to the Christmas holiday season, which draws a huge and diverse audience each year. The demand for this concert series is so high that until calendar year 2015, the concert was held over a period of three consecutive nights in middecember. I am certain that the Colors of Christmas Concert is the only concert sponsored by the Symphony whose audience members truly represent the diversity of people that comprise the San Francisco Bay Area. Last year the number of nights for the concert was reduced by one. During the concert, the audience was informed by the artists from the stage that the Symphony, not the Colors of Christmas organization, had decided to end this wonderful series. Audience members were devastated to hear this news. No rationale was given for the cancellation of this wonderful concert. Subsequent
9 communications were forwarded to the Symphony by various individuals, and they were informed by staff that the Symphony is "exploring new directions for music programming that offers the type of experience that you, your family and friends will enjoy during the Holiday season." SF Links wishes to stress that the Colors of Christmas Concert Series is the type of music programming that our organization, along with countless other organizations and individuals throughout the San Francisco Bay Area, enjoys during each holiday season. It is remarkable that this series has been targeted for cancellation when other holiday concerts, such as the Messiah and the Nutcracker, are offered year after year with no threat of termination. SF Links is asking that as the landlord for the Symphony, you bring this matter to the attention of your full Board of Trustees and the management at the Symphony. We look forward to your favorable reply. Sincerely, ~~~f}.0 Dr. Valata JenkinsMonroe, Ph.D. President, San Francisco Chapter of the Links
10 Norris, Jennifer (WAR) From: Sent: To: Subject: Thursday, May 26, :58 PM Norris, Jennifer 0/i/AR) Proposed letter to WM Trustees Ann Treboux 150 Sutter St. 738 San Francisco, CA To the War Memorial Trustees: May 26, 2016 I haven't gone to 401 Van Ness Ave since October Ann Trickey of the SFAC interrupted a public meeting I attended to scream, "She is not allowed into the building. I want her arrested". SFPD and Bill Graham (Director of security) were there to advise Trickey that this was not the case. This impacts the management of the building. As you can see from the attached from Kate Patterson, she contends that, "I am banned from the building but I can pick up documents at the guards desk". I have a case pending at the State Court of Appeal. Obviously, no one at the SFAC bothered to consult their attorney. It is only out of respect for Bill Graham that I don't go to 401 Van Ness. In April 2016, while registering people to vote, Howard Lazar shoved me. I taped the incident from my phone. To date, the SFAC has no responded when asked if they wanted to see a copy of the tape. A police report was filed. On May 16, 2016 while in the waiting room of the ferry terminal, Howard Lazar came out of the bathroom. He demanded to see a ticket. I ignored him and taped the incident. He screamed, "I am a movie star and she is stalking me!". I cancelled my appointment across the bay; filed a police report and to datethe SFAC has not responded to s about this. Howard Lazar falsified information at the May 11, 2016 street artist meeting. He claimed that, "4 additional spaces were approved by the full BO~". There was an item on the May 2, 2016 land use committee that was referred to the SFPD. To date, no item has appeared on the full BOS agenda.
