2 MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL Dear St. Agnes School Parents, Tomorrow there is no school as our Faculty will be participating in a retreat day. We will be praying for all of our school families as we gather for this day at Sacred Heart Convent. Please pray for us, too, as we focus on Pope Francis Encyclical letter: Laudato Si : On Care for Our Common Home. Our St. Agnes School Barnes & Noble Book Fair will be held tomorrow. Those who attend can pick up a dress down pass for Wednesday, March 23 rd. Students may also win a pass if they bring to Mrs. Bartletti a copy of the receipt that shows a purchase at the store on this day or online the week following the Book Fair. This spring Book Fair allows family purchases of books. Please use the voucher # when purchasing books for St. Agnes to receive 10% of your purchase. The money made from this sale goes into our library program. Tuition Assistance applications are available online for those wishing to submit an application regarding support needed for the school year. Completing an application for SHG and listing your St. Agnes school students takes care of the application for St. Agnes also. The fee of $30 for this process that is paid directly to FACTS Management. Report cards will be ed to parents who are current on fees next Thursday. These fees include: tuition, cafeteria and Late Day. Teachers do not post grades next Monday on Edline so end of quarter grades cannot be viewed online. The final quarter grades will come with the ed report card. If you do not receive this report card on Thursday and know that all fees are current, please contact the school office. If you are behind on any fees, please contact me for special arrangements. Thank you to our sixty families that returned the St. Agnes School mid-year evaluation. We appreciate the time that your took to share your ideas. I have used a summary of these remarks with the School Board, the Parents Club and the Faculty. Your ideas will be used to help us evaluate, continue, strengthen and/or improve the areas that were named. Over the Easter vacation, I will be attending the National Catholic Education Conference that will be held in San Diego. This conference will provide sessions in Catholic Identity, Curriculum, Educational Leadership and Vitality of Schools. It has been several years since I have been able to attend an NCEA Conference so I am excited about this opportunity. I appreciate Fr. Bob s support and the School Board s encouragement in doing this. I will be staying a few days beyond the Conference to visit with my family who are in California. Mrs. Tusek, my assistant principal, will be here on Monday-Wednesday, April 4-6. I will be back in the office on Thursday, April 7 th. There are some illnesses in family members so I am grateful to have the chance to visit them, also. The Ursuline Academy Foundation Award application was given to current sixth and seventh grade students. This award is a one-year, non-renewable (although students may reapply annually) financial award in the minimum amount of $ Payment is made directly to the school at the start of the next academic year. These applications are due in the office next week. Please contact the office if you do not have this form. Three scholarship applications are coming home with eighth graders today. They include: the Ed Goetz Service Scholarship, The Monsignor Wright Scholarship and the St. Agnes Parish Scholarship. They are due on Tuesday, April 12th. Next Wednesday, March 23 rd, Papa John s is hosting a Parents Club Fundraiser Night for St. Agnes. They will donate back to the Parents Club/School 20% of pizza orders that are purchased on this day whether in-store or online from the regular menu or one of their specials. Students are bringing home a flier for this fundraiser today. Please hold onto the flier or pass it on to someone else. Thanks for all you do to support our Parents Club. Faith Reflection: Blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord. (Jeremiah 17:7) Where do I place my trust? In myself, my good intentions, my commitments, my priorities? Or in God, relying on his strength and giving him permission to direct my plans and bring me face-to-face with what s on his heart? 2
3 What happens when my commitments are interrupted and through no fault of my own? How do I respond when I step into a chapel at lunchtime for quiet prayer, only to discover a neighbor sobbing her heart out? Am I open to being drawn into the Lord s heart of love for this individual at this moment of need? Or do I ignore her plight and go on with my previous plan? I may have planned out perfectly how I will evangelize my co-worker but all my plans are brought to nothing when he tells me that his wife just walked out on him, and he is devastated. Can I step away from my initial plans and improvise, trusting that God will bless my efforts? As we welcome these opportunities prayerfully, we will find that Jesus is a lot closer to us than if we had just stuck with our ideas and intentions. We ll find great comfort and even energy when we live in faith in such a radical way. Walking in faith with you, Sr. Joan Chris & Lisa Sommer for their generous support through their participation in our M.A.G.I.C. MATCH Business Education Partnership Program. Parents please support our sponsors who give to our school. GRADE K Who has tiny green feet? Who has a pot 'o' gold? The kindergarten are going on a leprechaun hunt today to catch that little guy!
