6 Page 6 MEMBER EVENTS Salute to Working Women On April 23rd the Chamber of Commerce will honor Maura McMahon-Primus, VP of the McMahon Agency. The event will be held at Flanders Banquet Center, 719 E. 11th St., Ocean City at Noon. Maura is a longtime resident of the Ocean City area, graduated from St. Augustine Regional Grade School and Holy Spirit High School. She obtained a BA in Communication f r o m L a S a l l e U n i v e r s i t y, Philadelphia, PA, in 1990, where she was a member of the women s crew team. Upon graduation Maura joined the family s insurance agency, then known as Chattin-Halliday Insurance. We changed the name to the McMahon Agency in She obtained my New Jersey insurance license shortly after joining the agency. In 1995 she achieved the Accredited Advisor of Insurance designation. Currently she is the Vice President & Chief Financial Office of the company. Over the past 17+ years Maura has held various positions in the agency, from customer service representative to claims manger, administrative assistant and office manger. Her experiences with the agency have taken her through many aspects of the insurance business. She has assisted in the agency s growth from 12 employees in 1 office to 40 employees in 3 locations. Along the way she has updated our computer systems, assisted in an extensive renovation of our main office, written employee manuals, and handled all of the growing pains that are associated with an expanding business. McMahon Agency purchased an agency in Mays Landing in 2000, and Maura was charged with modernizing the infrastructure & transitioning Chamber Notes employees and clients to the McMahon Agency philosophy. In 2004 they expanded again to Seaville in Upper Township, where they opened our third location. Professionally Maura is affiliated with the Professional Insurance Agents of America, where she takes part in their annual fundraising for the Special Olympics of NJ, as well as the Insurance Agents & Brokers of NJ. In my community Maura is proud to be a part of the First Night planning committee, the Advisory Board to the Academy of Finance at Ocean City High School, and Crossing the Finish Line, a charity geared toward providing respite to young adult cancer patients and their families. She currently resides in Palermo with her husband and son. She enjoys s k i i n g, t h e b e a c h, r u n n i n g, participating in 5K races, and hopes to run a half marathon this fall.
