4 A Discusion on Creativity by Director Naga, Creative Media Consultant Abstracts of talks and biographies of speakers The talk would begin with defining "creativity" as a basic urge of humans. The myth that some are born creative and other are not, as also the implication of creativity in job-satisfaction, will be considered. An attempt will be made to demonstrate that we are being creative at every moment but just that we do not realise it or utilise it for higher purposes. The ideas of medial, lateral and collateral thinking, including their identification and application in different situations, will be discussed. The talk will have anecdotes from the speaker's own work experiences and others'. Participants' interaction will end the talk. Nagarajan Lingam, more popularly known as Director Naga in the Tamil film and television industry, is a product of the prestigious Film and Television Institute of India, Pune. Naga began his career as a Director of Photography in Bombay and has shot for Feature films that include Gawaahi and Patthar Ke Phool. He has also shot for TV serials in Hindi, Malayalam and Tamil. Apart from shooting for Films and TV serials, Naga has to his credit more than 20 documentaries and ad films. Moving on, Naga started writing and directing TV Serials in Tamil and they have been trend setters. Marmadesam, Ramani vs Ramani, Veetukku Veedu Looti, Chidambara Rahasiyam are some of them. Naga also directed a main stream Tamil feature film Anandhapurathu Veedu. Naga was a Senior Creative Consultant with Puthiya Thalaimurai & Puthu Yugam and was involved in shaping up various programmes on these channels. He played a key role as a mentor for the channel s flagship awards show Thamizhan Virudugal, the past 3 years. Naga now gives his creative inputs for various Television Channels. He is also an appointed Honorary Member of Planning Board, Tamil Nadu Open University. He is currently working on his second Feature Film. Business Opportunity Analysis by Mr. P. Krishnamurthy, Director, Aura Industrial Equipment and Projects The session aims to identify and develop great ideas into great companies, examine the opportunities based on real customer needs and to develop solid business models for the creation of companies. The above objectives are achieved by Thinking entrepreneurially which involves Entrepreneurial Mindset, Entrepreneurial Motivation and Entrepreneurial Behaviour. Seeing entrepreneurially which includes Industry Condition, Industry Status, Macroeconomic Change and Competition. Krishnamurthy is a dynamic Engineer and entrepreneur having expertise in the areas of System integration (Skid mounted package units), Equipment fabrication, Project Management, Business Development and Industrial Marketing, Estimation and Proposals for Engineered Systems. He believes entrepreneurship is the future of India in all areas (IT, Infrastructure, Oil & Gas, Power, Mining & Minerals, Food & Beverages, Pulp & Paper, Chemicals & Pharma etc.). He is committed to develop leadership through entrepreneurship in young engineers through knowledge dissemination and experience sharing. To brief his

Sampath Kumar, Professor, SSN School of Management The presentation will cover incentives available for entrepreneurs, assessment of financial requirement, sources of finance, institutions which provide finance and methods of financing. Dr. K. Sampath Kumar has taught subjects related to finance and accounts such as Accounting for Management, Financial Management, Security Analysis & Portfolio Management, Merchant Banking and Financial Services, Corporate Finance and other subjects such as International Business Management, Advertising & Sales Promotion, Engineering Economics, Principles of Management, Banking, Commercial Law, etc. He is a member of CII, ICMA, ICSI, IIB and other reputed institutions. He was an editor for the book titled A compendium of essays on Opportunities and Challenges in the Current Global Business Scenario published in For the subjects, Merchant Banking and Financial Services and Security Analysis & Portfolio Management, he was the content developer for Everonn Limited. Professor Dr. K. Sampath Kumar has over 26 years experience in Banking, both in Public Sector and Private Sector. He has extensive experience in the various facets of Banking, specializing in the Credit portfolio. He has also been taking classes for 15 years in Banks. He was also involved in consultancy activities for over a couple of years. Apart from this, he has full time teaching experience of over 14 years. Dr. K. Sampath Kumar holds a M.B.A. with specialization in Finance and is a rank holder in the second M.B.A. with specialization in Human Resources & Marketing Management from University of Madras. He is a Fellow member of the Institute of Cost & Works Accountants of India, an Associate member of the Institute of Company Secretaries of India and a Certificated Associate member of the Indian Institute of Bankers. Apart from this he holds degrees in Commerce, Law and Economics. He holds a Doctorate degree from Alagappa University in Finance. What I Wish I Knew By Mr. Vilva Natarajan, Founder and CEO, Karomi Technologies There are many things that the speaker has learnt on hindsight during his entrepreneurial journey which he wishes he knew before he jumped into it. Some are common sense things (now it seems like that) and some are tricks of the trade he learnt on the job. The speaker hopes that his ramblings are useful to some budding entrepreneurs. Vilva is the Founder and CEO of Karomi and also on its board. Launched in 2003, Karomi is today a leading enterprise solution provider in the areas of document management and business process automation. Vilva

6 continues to lead the company's strategic developments and overall execution excellence. Vilva has over two decades of product development experience. Prior to his entrepreneurial venture with Karomi, Vilva has had corporate stints with Synopsys, VeriBest and Dazix in the Electronic Design Automation (EDA) industry. He holds a MS (Comp. Science) and a MS (Elec. & Comp Engg.) from LSU and a B.E. degree in Electrical & Electronics from A.C.Tech, Karaikudi. His interests include marathon running and travelling. The Concept of Value: Fundas for Entrepreneurs-to-be by Dr. L. S. Ganesh, Professor, Department of Management Studies, IIT Madras The idea of "value" has to be the focus of entrepreneurship. "Value" can be understood holistically from three different perspectives, viz., existential, experiential and economic, with reference to the userbeneficiary of any design. The existential perspective is based on the 6S framework, which is a response to the fundamental question of why do we do what we do. The experiential perspective is based on specific human expectations that we seek to realize through our ventures/start-ups, of which the expectations could vary from the most exalted to the utterly mundane. The economic perspective is based on all the functional and operational/use characteristics of any product/service, which is the focus of an entrepreneurial venture/start-up. The integration of the three perspectives can provide a basis to critically examine various issues related to the theme of the Seminar. Dr. L. S. Ganesh (LSG) graduated in 1977 in the BE (Hons.) programme in Mechanical Engineering of the Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS) at Pilani, Rajasthan. In 1979, he received the MTech degree in Maintenance Engineering and Management and a Merit Prize from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Madras. During , he pursued the doctoral research programme in the Industrial Engineering and Management Faculty at IIT Madras. He has worked in Air India, Bombay, as an aircraft maintenance engineer trainee, as an Associate Fellow in Educational Planning in the National Institute of Educational Planning and Administration (NIEPA), New Delhi, and as an Assistant Professor in the Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Bangalore. In 1987, he began his career in the Industrial Engineering and Management Faculty of IIT Madras. He served as the Head of the Department of Management Studies at IIT Madras from July 2004 till July In this role, he coordinated the location and development of the complete academic, laboratory, office and utilities infrastructure for the new premises of the Department. He also coordinated the establishment of strategic academic relationships through MoUs between IIT Madras and leading national and multinational institutions and business organizations. He played a pivotal role in re-launching in 2005 the pioneering and unique MS (Entrepreneurship) programme of IIT Madras and coordinating it since then. Until recently, he served as the Professor-in-charge of the Cell for Technology Innovation, Development and Entrepreneurship Support (C-TIDES). He has served as an organizer, resource person and jury member in international business ideas/plans competitions organized separately in the areas of technology, social and biomedical entrepreneurship. He has served as a jury member in national-level business ideas/plans competitions organized by leading national institutions and public sector organizations, and also in the annual awards Committees of the CII, L-RAMP and MMA. He has delivered invited talks, keynotes and lectures on different technical and general topics to a wide variety of audiences including scientists and academicians, business executives, industry professionals, government officers, teachers, students, and even children. Many students consider him as a most inspiring teacher, mentor and friend who has taught them about life, professionalism and excellence. LSG is also an accomplished rock, blues and jazz vocalist and rhythm guitarist. In his student days, he won many prizes in music competitions, debates and sports. He loves work, meditation, philosophy, music and dreaming.
