ACTIVITY REPORT NATIONAL CONFERENCE ON ADVANCED COMPUTING TECHNOLOGIES AND INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY RIGHTS DEPARTMENT OF COMPUTER SCIENCE IN COLLABORATION WITH IQAC ON FEBRUARY 16, 2018 Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of St. Joseph s College for Women, Tirupur has taken the task of creating awareness about Intellectual Property Rights amongst faculty and students of its own and neighboring Colleges. India has become a member of the global patent regime but awareness and expertise on the subject of Intellectual property Rights (IPR) in the academic institutions is still inadequate. Protection of IPR and its infomercial importance propagates innovative culture, productivity, market leadership and helps creation of affluence for the individual and eventually the Nation. IPR awareness is required which is noteworthy for prolific augmentation of the Intellectual property rights (IPRs). Department of Computer Science in collaboration with IQAC organized a National Conference on Advanced Computing Technologies and Intellectual Property Rights on 16th February 2018 (Friday) with the robust support from the Management. The venue was Alona Auditorium inside the college campus. There were 41 enthusiastic participants from various colleges including faculty, research scholars and students. The Seminar focused on importance of IPRs and their protection, Patenting procedures and patent informatics, patent searches, role of innovation and invention in the academia industry collaborations, trademark and copyright protection, issues of do s and don ts for a researcher in the context of publishing and patenting. The resource person was Dr. R.Thirumoorthy, Professor and Head in Social Work, Director, Sri Ramakrishna Academy, Sri Ramakrishna college of arts and college, coimbatore.
