1 ================================== HEADS Pro Release 14.1, User s Guide for Tutorial Data Tutorial 12B PLAN Drawings : Base Plan DXF ================================== Process: The folder Tutorial 12B PLAN Drawings>>Base Plan DXF>>Project Data contains the files MODEL.FIL, MODEL.LST, Halign.FIL, Project Data File1.TXT and Project Data File2.TXT, File Project Data File1.TXT contains Data for creating PLAN drawing of a road section by reading Model & String from the Model files, File Project Data File2.TXT, contains Data for creating PLAN drawings of a road section by reading PLAN1.DXF drawing of the whole road, Layout.FIL file for Drawing Sheet Layouts, Halign.FIL for writing Chainages & HIP details in the drawings Road Centre Line control string is M001 and finally creating a set of drawings as PLAN1.DXF, PLAN2.DXF following the Drawing Sheet Layouts as available in file Layout.FIL. Note: In data for 1100 PLAN in file Project Data File1.TXT, doesn t have any text details for Chainage, HIP details and Grid Coordinates are not mentioned, only text details is mentioned for Contour elevations as Model CONTOUR and String ELEV. The other text details for Chainage, HIP Details and Grid Coordinates will be created later on by processing the file Project Data File2.TXT, Using Heads Pro Menu Option File>>Open, Select file Project Data File1.txt and Click on Open, 1
2 The Project Work Space box comes with list of process option for PLAN Drawing as mentioned in the Project Data File1.txt, Click on button Proceed, The Process starts and the Dialog Box comes and Click on button Proceed, when the process is over click on button OK & Finish, 2
3 The Plan drawing is created as PLAN1.DXF inside folder Design Drawings within the working folder, Cut & Paste the drawing from folder Design Drawings to outside in the folder Project Data, Getting back to the Project Work Space screen, Click on button HEADS Viewer, As the Heads Viewer opens select menu option File>>Open, 3
4 Select the drawing file PLAN1.DXF to open it, As the drawing opens, Select Heads Viewer menu option View>>Zoom>>Zoom All Select Heads Viewer menu option Design>>Chainage>>ON, the Chainages are displayed by reading from the file HALIGN.FIL, which must exist in the current working folder of Heads Viewer, and that s why we brought the drawing in the folder Project Data Files, 4
5 Next, the Dialog box will come for Chainage, Select String M001 and enter other data as shown, Click on button OK, the Chainages will be displayed along the alignment, which will not be in the saved PLAN drawing and will be created later on, As the Chainages are displayed zoom the desired location to mark tentatively every 1000m (1.0 Kilometres) by drawing lines, So the lines are placed on Chainages and in the drawing, Now select Heads Viewer menu option Design>>Layout>>Apply, The Layout Dialog box will come as shown below, Enter Bottom Margin 210, Click on OK, 5
6 Click on any point in the Drawing, the drawing sheet will be placed as shown below, Now select Heads Viewer menu icon Rotate, Click Left & Right mouse buttons on the boundary lines of the Drawing Sheet, Click left mouse button on the Left bottom corner of the Drawing sheet to mark as rotation base point, move the mouse to rotate the Drawing sheet to get the orientation parallel to the part of the drawing where the Drawing sheet will be placed, 6
7 The rotated position of the Drawing sheet is shown below, Now select Heads Viewer menu icon Move, Click Left & Right mouse buttons on the boundary lines of the Drawing Sheet, move the mouse to shift the Drawing sheet to place on the desired part of the drawing, 7
8 The upper window of the Drawing sheet is properly placed on the desired part of the drawing, As the Drawing sheet is placed on the road section from Chainages and in the drawing, Now select Heads Viewer menu option Design>>Layout>>Accept, the details for the sheet laid out are written in file Layout.fil in the working folder, 8
9 Next again select Heads Viewer menu option Design>>Layout>>Apply, The Layout Dialog box will come as shown below, Enter Bottom Margin 210, Click on OK, The second Drawing Sheet is placed in the drawing, 9
10 Repeating the same procedure for Rotate & Move as before the second Drawing sheet is laid out on the road section from Chainages and in the drawing as shown below, Next select Heads Viewer menu option Design>>Layout>>Accept, the details for the second sheet laid out are written in file Layout.fil in the working folder, 10
11 The details of two laid out Drawing sheets are written in file Layout.FIL, which may be opened in Notepad as shown below, For each Drawing sheet the details are X,Y Coordinate of Left Bottom Corner, Angle of Rotation in degrees, Length of Drawing sheet, Width of Drawing sheet, Scale for drawing to fit in the Drawing sheet size, Bottom Margin, Right Margin, Top Margin & Left Margin. Here the Bottom Margin is 210mm and all the other Drawing sheet margins are 10mm, this is for keeping the space for Long Section or PROFILE drawing and the Title Block on the lower window part of the Drawing sheet. Now close the Heads Viewer without saving the drawing, if the drawing is saved then all the Chainage Marking lines & Drawing sheet lines will come in the next set of drawings, which are not desired in the drawings to be created next, Coming back to the HEADS Pro main screen click on button Finish, 11
12 If the message comes for opening the drawings, Click on button No, Using Heads Pro Menu Option File>>Open, Select file Project Data File2.txt and Click on Open, 12
13 The Project Work Space box comes with list process option for PLAN Drawing as mentioned in the Project Data File2.txt, Click on button Proceed, The Process starts and the Dialog Box comes and Click on button Proceed, when the process is over click on button OK & Finish, 13
14 Two Plan drawings are created as PLAN1.DXF & PLAN2.DXF (In Demo version PLAN1.DRG & PLAN2.DRG) inside folder Design Drawings within the working folder, following the two Drawing Sheet layouts as described in file Layout.FIL, Getting back to the Project Data process screen, Click on button Finish, Message may come as shown below, Click on button Yes to open the PLAN drawing in Heads Viewer, 14
