3 Introduction Phanta Rei! everything moves! A river flows and works its way through the landscape. Not a drop of what we can observe flows here at a subsequent time - and not a drop of what we observe will be here tomorrow. It is an endless movement. The boundaries of the movement is my primal inspiration. Movement can show itself in various ways, any form or expression may create a new inspiration. A good example is the sublime beauty of nature. The first inspiration is the stimulus that starts the process and who carries me into that further development. During this process this certain feeling is dominant. It creates a meditative atmosphere. It is a mood in which form and structure fade. The emotion is the basis for the final image. In this state prevails a high level of concentration which makes it possible to draw very powerful, poignant and sensitive lines. I draw with my whole body. Each line represents a single movement directly on paper or other material. An artist is like a newborn bird. For each project you need to learn how to fly again before you will be able to strike your wings again. I am an energetic and enterprising personality. Since my early childhood I m fascinated by my surroundings like the nature or the environment and the technical development of the growing industry. It is incomprehensible how fast everything around us changes. Today no one can imagine the world without the internet. I started with the pedagogical academy for teachers. As a teacher you have the special task of guiding children to adulthood. After obtaining my previous college education, I started at the Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam. Unfortunately it was impossible for me to continue this training because of the unexpected death of my husband. Once when my kids were older, I followed and completed an elementary school specialization.

5 An old oak tree has very deep roots in the ground, these roots are visible and tangible. The roots are essential for the oak tree. All those years I could not express my creative feelings. I have responded to this important sense by following the study fine arts at Royal Academy of Fine Arts in The Hague. This portfolio is a small overview of my work. The first set of photos show my larger pieces, drawings made on a wall. The sublime beauty of nature was the initial stimulus in the further process. I have made several wall drawings. Here is a development visible, for example in the variation of the line composition. The next selection contains a number of smaller drawings. In this series the object structure is a very important issue. The lines in these drawings are tight and moving simultaneously. Then at the end, I selected a number of linoleum prints of varying sizes. Remarkable is the dimension of some prints because they are very different from the regular sizes. For that reason it was impossible to print them on the usual standard way. After a long search, I had found someone with a special little steam machine. Because we were able to control the machine mechanically it was possible to print them on paper in a large industrial hall. It seemed almost impossible but the project was successfull. I really like challenges which I always try to achieve in many different ways. I m looking for new projects, alone or in collaboration where new inspiration can lead to great exhibitions. I am planning to continue to work large and small-scale. By using diversity and experimenting I hope to perfect my own style.

7 Artist statement The main basis for my work is the endless movement of the observable empirical reality which shows itself in structures, lines and shapes. An image contains a certain feeling of movement and development. Each viewer experiences and interprets this feeling different. This is very special and gives a new meaning to a work of art. It can lead to a discussion between the viewer and the artist which can bring both closer to the essence of a work. The sense of movement is universal, it can show the structure in the bark of an old oak tree or true the lines in the desert sand. Movement is very comprehensive. Actually, movement is visible at all levels in the world. Movement is boundless. It is impossible to capture it into a single work of art. It is never equal to what we empirically observe or feel. Movement can show itself in various ways, any form or expression may create a new inspiration. During a process I work from a meditative atmosphere, where a high level of concentration prevails. The high level of concentration makes it possible to create very clear and strong lines. I draw lines with my whole body in a single movement directly on the paper.
