2 Saturday, October 13 from 11:00am-4:00pm SUPERHEROES FIGHT HUNGER! Help support local food pantries! During Fandom Fest we ll be holding a food drive for the local food pantries. We are asking patrons to bring in non-perishable, non-expired food and place it in our food donation box. Thank you! HELP A CHILD IN NEED DISCOVER THE WORLD OF COLOR During our Fandom Fest we ll be collecting new crayons for the non-profit organization Color for Kids. Please place your donations in our donation box. Thank you!

We ll supply figure templates, sketching supplies, and basic sewing supplies. Members of Saber Guild- Endor Temple will be here to discuss just what it takes to have a stage ready costume. This panel will be moderated by one of the global costume judges for Saber Guild, a Lucasfilm recognized charity costume choreography group. They ll discuss the design and fabrication of costumes for both their Jedi and Sith performers and more! This fast-paced presentation traces the evolution of super-powered cinema, from the Saturday-morning serials of yesteryear to the box-office blockbusters of today. This presentation will Include video clips to take you behind the scenes of some of the coolest flicks and explore how Hollywood has taken on superheroes with the times and technologies available. 9 COSPLAY CONTEST (PLEASE SEE BELOW FOR RULES) 3:00PM-4:00PM Ages 2 Years - Gr. 5 In Person Registration Starts September 4 Calling all Schwifties, Duelists, Trekkies, Sherlockians, Whovians, Scoobies you get the idea. We re having our first-ever cosplay contest. You ll have 60 seconds on stage to strut your stuff for our panel of judges. Those interested in participating in our contest can pick up an entry card and contest rules from any service desk. So, dust off your sewing kit, warm up that glue gun, and get crafting! Your homemade costume could win you fame, glory, and of course, prizes! For UFSD #22 residents only. COSPLAY CONTEST RULES Join our Cosplay contest, in which participants portray a science fiction/pop culture character. Those interested in participating in the contest can pick up/submit an entry card at any service desk starting September 4. All contestants will line up outside Room A/B on the lower level at 2:30pm the day of our Fandom Fest. Contestants will be judged based on their age category: Category 1: Children ages 2-4 Category 2: Children in Gr. K-2 Category 3: Children in Gr. 3-5 Category 4: Teens in Gr Category 5: Adults ages 18-up Children under the age of 12 must have a caregiver in the audience at all times. If competing as a group in the contest, the group may not exceed 6 people. Contestants will have 60 seconds on stage. No skits will be allowed during the contest due to time constraints. Cosplay Contest Rules: Registration will be accepted until one hour prior to the start of the competition. You can pick up/submit your cosplay contest registration card at any service desk starting September 4. This is a family-friendly event. No nudity or the semblance of nudity is allowed. Costumes should be appropriate for the public library atmosphere. No profanity, political, or religious statements are allowed on stage including messages on signs or clothes. Costumes cannot promote any particular political agenda or message. Costumes cannot endorse any form of real hate groups. Costumes cannot depict, and cannot itself be in, violation of any law. Costumes cannot contain any weapons which resemble or could easily be mistaken for an actual weapon. Costumes should not contain any sharp or pointed objects. Contestants are responsible for their own belongings. If your costume requires power, it must be part of your costume design. Your costume must not impede your ability to get on and off stage. You must be in full costume before the contest starts. You will not be allowed to change into your costume on stage. For safety reasons, please wear footwear at all times. Skates, skateboards, rollerblades, and bicycles will not be permitted. No stilts. Masks must be removable and done so at staff request. All costumes, including props and weapons, are subject to the approval of library staff at any time. We reserve the right to disallow or disqualify anyone from the contest for not following the rules and/or creating a hazardous environment for others. All cosplay contest participants should be respectful of other competitors and library staff. PHOTOGRAPHS AND VIDEOS TAKEN DURING THE EVENT BY LIBRARY STAFF WILL BE USED FOR LIBRARY PROMOTIONAL MATERIALS.
