3 Mustashrik is an artist and designer who recently produced a series of original animated shorts for the band Nizlopi to promote the launch of its new album. He lives in the United Kingdom. Robert Deas won second place in the print comic category in the prestigious IMAF competition, and he has sat on various manga panels in London to promote the UK manga scene. He lives in London. Even though I have read most of the material William Shakespeare wrote I am always interested in new approaches to his many plays. I recently purchased this graphic novel (Manga Shakespeare Macbeth illustrated by Robert Deas) version of Macbeth for a bargain price on. The wonderful illustrations really make the story come alive.i found this 207 page volume fascinating because this graphic novel series takes a Japanese manga approach to the story and play of Macbeth. This tragic story is the same with various dialog scenes using many well-known quotes from Shakespeare. This story is about murder, revenge and power hungry greed. Macbeth and Banquo have won a battle over an invading army, and the traitorous Thane of Cawdor is among the prisoners. On their way home Macbeth and Banquo run into three witches, who made some prophecies. They predict Macbeth will inherit the title of Thane of Cawdor and will become King. Banquo will father a dynasty of Kings, but he never becomes king himself.i never give away too much information when reviewing a novel because it spoils it for the reader. While, as with the others, the text is taken entirely from the play and the graphics depict the narrative, this adaptation didn't rise above its chosen setting (a post-apocalyptic feudal Japan) in ways that some others in the series had. They surprised me as a reader and enhanced not only my understanding of the text, but gave me new ways to think about characters, themes, etc. This functioned more as a straight visual adaptation of the play - not inaccurate or misleading, but not adding much to it, either. My 12 year old is obsessed with these books. They all have different artists which she loves and SHE IS READING SHAKESPEARE!!!!! What can I say. A wonderful way to make Shakespeare accessible to a young audience. Now my 11 and 9 year old are into them too and we now have all of them.the only reason I am giving them a 4 and not a 5 is the bindings are not the best and i have

4 bought one twice as the pages started falling out. I know they are left out open and face down and read a LOT, but so are a lot of other books of ours and they are still intact. There is a whole series of these books illustrating Shakespearean plays. They are wonderful in getting students to understand the plots. However, Several of them have pages coming unbound and falling out after only one or two readings. Super fast delivery. great quality I showed my students the manga versions of Shakespeare's tragedies, and several of them borrowed these editions to read overnight. I plan to keep a deep inventory of these versions in my classroom's bookshelves so that my students might continue to become "hooked on Shakespeare." Came in excellent shape. Thanks!
