2 2/ March 2019 Spring-y reads from the Children s Room: Splish Splash Ducky by Lucy Cousins Ducky Duckling has so much fun in the rain! Readers will be happy to splish, splash, and paddle along on Ducky s adventures with a frog and a worm, a bug and a slug, some swans and some fish. But what happens when the rain stops and Ducky feels sad? Library call number: E Cousins, L. Why I like this one: The language is very accessible even the youngest little duck can enjoy the story. When Spring Comes by Kevin Henkes Animals and children alike watch as the world transforms from the dark and dead of winter to a full and blooming spring. Library call number: E Henkes, K. Why I like this one: The colors used in this story paint the perfect picture of spring! Bear Wants More by Karma Wilson (you ll find others by this author at the library too!) When spring comes, Bear wakes up very hungry and is treated to great food by his friends. Library call number: E Wilson, K. Why I like this one: Wilson s stories are so much fun to read-aloud! The bear stories always have a line that repeats throughout and gives listeners a chance to participate in the fun. It s Battle Season once again at all North Country libraries! Children in grades 4, 5, and 6 are invited to participate in a reading trivia competition with their friends. Students work together to form teams of 3 or 4 students and, as a group, read a list of 16 titles. But - reading time is running out! Please see Ms. Ashley for a title list and more information.
