The hotel s phone number is Meeting Minutes June 1, 2008 The June club meeting was held at Minnetrista in Muncie, Indiana. Club President Dave Rittenhouse opened the meeting and welcomed 11 members. Dave Rittenhouse gave an update on the 24 minute movie DVD containing Phil s presentation, Parable of the Jars. The price is $15 per DVD. Thanks go to Dick Cole for overseeing this project. Anne Szopa provided the Treasurer s report for June. The expenses included renewing our FOHBC membership, a couple of July Show items, and flowers for Phil Robinson s funeral. Several people Show and Tell Club members were asked to bring product jars and bottles with original labels (if possible) for Show and Tell at the June meeting. The next few pages will show pictures of the items that were displayed. The picture on the right shows the embossing on the bottom of an amber Pluto Water bottle. The figure embossed on the base is Pluto himself! commented that the flowers were very nicely done. The August 3rd meeting will be our annual club picnic at 1:30pm, and it will be held at the home of Colleen and Jerry Dixon, 2602 W. Brook Drive, Muncie, Indiana. Look for a map and driving instructions elsewhere in this newsletter. You may also contact Colleen at Members need to bring chairs and a salad, side dish or dessert. 2 Page 2 Show and Tell Joe Coulson brought this pasta sauce jar with Genuine No. 3 Mason debossed on the side. This picture shows the pasta sauce jar complete with its original contents and was purchased at a Kroger grocery. The jar has the Ball logo on the base. Sue Wilson shared two Ball half pint jelly product jars with original labels. This picture shows the Ball R Mason embossing on the jar. Here is a closeup of the unusual metal screw cap on the jelly product jars.

3 Page 3 Pictures from Show and Tell Norman Barnett brought this corked bottle with a paper label which says Manganes: Ox Anne Szopa displayed this As You Like It clear tumbler with metal lid (pint). Sue Wilson shared a clear HG Ball R Mason with paper label for Wilson s Enriched Beverages Anne Szopa displayed a clear QT Blue Ribbon Coffee jar with scarce original lids. This is the inner lid. This is the outer lid on the Blue Ribbon Coffee jar. It is amazing that both lids survived. Anne also shared this tiny basefluted Gerland product jar with what appears to be a prune in it! Colleen Dixon brought this John Ryan Savannah Georgia cobalt blue bottle. Colleen also brought two Coke bottles. One is a Nascar edition and the other is from overseas. This Bick s Sweet Green Relish jar has a picture of two pickles flying in an airplane!

4 Page 4 Pictures from Show and Tell Jean Harbron brought a completely original and full jar of Crisco. The jar has the Ball logo on the base. This is a closeup of the original metal screw cap on the Crisco jar. Also notice the Crisco embossing. This Meadow Gold Cottage Cheese jar has a lot of nice embossing on it. Sue Wilson (left) watches while Anne Szopa talks about the As You Like It jar that she has in her hand. Lou Ebert shared this Golden Crush Walnut Sundae Syrup product jar (clear unembossed half gallon) Dave Rittenhouse displayed this Kaukauna Klub cheese jar with original label. Dave also shared this A. Moll Grocer Co., St. Louis, Mo. pottery product jar. Dave displayed the Blue Ribbon Baking Powder jar on the left and Norm displayed the Wabash Baking Powder jar (both are Ball Perfect Mason pint jars). Kay Rittenhouse shared this Horlick s Malted Milk jar with original cap and paper label.

It was embossed 1936 Merry Christmas (figure of Santa) Overmyer Mould Co. on the front and faces of company officers on the reverse. This was probably given to employees as a Christmas present. It would be interesting to know what the bottle might have had in it at that time. Announcements The August 3rd meeting will be our Annual Club Picnic. The September 7th meeting program is Errors and Oddities. The October 5th meeting program is SCA (sun colored amethyst / purple) Jars.
