3 Role play card 1-6: Identity cards a) You are on holiday travelling through Europe. You meet on a train and start talking to each other. You are the person on your card! Use the information on the card. You can invent any other information if you want. b) Talk about other holidays you ve been on and people you ve met. Role play card 7: Choosing a birthday present a) It s your friend s birthday next week and you want to buy her/him a present together. Take it in turns to talk about the ideas on the card. (Explain why you think each item might be good or bad, and find out what your partner thinks.) Come to a decision about which present you buy. b) Talk about what you did on your last birthday. Role play card 8: Choosing a type of holiday a) You are going on holiday in the summer. Take it in turns to talk about the ideas on the card. (Explain what you like/dislike about each idea, and find out what your partner thinks.) Come to a decision about what to do. b) Talk about other holidays you have been on and people you have met.

Come to a decision about what to do your project on. b) Talk about other projects you ve done at school and why you liked or disliked them. Role play card 10: Talking about gadgets a) You are chatting with a friend about things you have and/or would like to have. Take it in turns to talk about the items on the card. (Explain why you think each item is useful/important or not, and find out what your partner thinks.) Come to an agreement about which of the items you most and least need. b) What other things would you most like to have (if you had enough money)?

(Explain why you think you need each item or not, and find out what your partner thinks.) Come to an agreement about which three of the items you really need (and where you can get them). b) Describe the place you would most like to live in (if you had enough money). Role play card 12: Forms of transport a) When you leave school you and your partner want to go to a college in a town a few miles away. Take it in turns to talk about the ways of getting there on the card. (Explain what you think the advantages and disadvantages of each are, and find out what your partner thinks about them.) Come to an agreement about the best way to get to college. b) Talk about what you hope to do when you leave school and where you hope to do it. Role play card 13: Talking about jobs a) You are thinking about which job to train for when you leave school. Take it in turns to talk about each of the jobs on the card. (Explain what you think is good or bad about each of them, and find out what your partner thinks about them.) Decide which job you would each prefer to do. b) Talk about what job you really hope to do and where you hope to do it.

6 Role play card 14: Extreme sports a) You are on holiday with your partner and want to spend a day doing an extreme sport. Take it in turns to talk about each of the sports on the card. (Explain what why you would/wouldn t like to do each of them, and find out what your partner thinks about them.) Decide which of the sports to do together. b) Talk about the kind of things you like doing and things you would never do. Role play card 15: Choosing a project a) You have to do a project at school with your partner about one of the problems listed on the card. Take it in turns to talk about each item. (Explain what you think causes each problem, suggest possible solutions and find out what your partner thinks.) Come to a decision about what to do your project on. b) Talk about your typical school day and what you like and dislike most about school. Role play card 16: Making friends a) You and your partner meet at an international summer camp and want to get to know each other better. Use the topics on the card as a starting point and tell your partner about yourself. Find out similar information about your partner. (You can tell the truth - or invent information about yourself.) b) Discuss together what the most important things for you both are when you make new friends. (Think about appearance, interests, family, money, etc.)

7 Speaking Test Part 3 Role play cards (Klett: Spoken English Tests 1) - Partnerarbeit - Aufgabenstellung steht auf der entsprechenden Folie (bei a, und b, evtl. zuerst a, aufdecken und anschließend b,) - in jedem Umschlag ca. 30 Kärtchen - Role play cards 1-6: hier erhalten die Schüler den Steckbrief einer Person und müssen diese Rolle annehmen (pro Pärchen zwei verschiedene Kärtchen); anschließend müssen die Partner ein Gespräch führen, in dem sie sich kennen lernen ; sie müssen dazu die Informationen auf den Karten verwenden und Fehlendes erfinden - Role play cards 7-16: entspricht dem 3. Teil des Speaking Tests allerdings ohne Bilder (pro Pärchen zwei gleiche Kärtchen); die Schüler erhalten eine Problemstellung (Folie) und sollen innerhalb der vorgegebenen Zeit (3-4 min) zu einer gemeinsamen Lösung kommen
