5 Preparing the installation area 1 Preparing the installation area The surface of the measurement object must first be cleaned before installing the optical sensor fiber Opti Met OMF. Use the cleaning agent RMS1 (order number 1 RMS1, spray: 1 RMS1 SPRAY, see Fig. 1.1) and non woven pads (order number , see Fig. 1.2) for subsequent mechanical treatment. 8 Installation of the optical sensor fiber OptiMet OMF 2 Installation of the optical sensor fiber OptiMet OMF 2.1 Installation with EP310S adhesive Position the optical sensor fiber OptiMet OMF on the measuring point under small tension such that the fiber lies as straight as possible. Fix the fiber in this position with two polyimide adhesive stripes (order number 1 KLEBEBAND) outside the black fiber markers (Fig. 2.1). The bonding length should at least comprise the black markers. Allow the adhesive to dry for 5 minutes at room temperature. 6 A HBM: public OptiMet-OMF

The silicone stripes should measure 2 cm x 4 cm. OptiMet-OMF A HBM: public 7

11 Installation of the optical sensor fiber OptiMet OMF Fig. 2.4 Load on top of the optical sensor fiber OptiMet OMF The EP310S adhesive must cure for 2 hours at 150 C. 2.2 Installation with X60 adhesive When using the adhesive X60 (order number 1 X60) the optical sensor fiber OptiMet OMF is fixed on the specimen under small tension outside the black fiber markers by two stripes of polyimide adhesive stripes (order number 1 KLEBEBAND). X60 adhesive is mixed with deviant mixing ration (16 drops of component B with one spatula of component A) and applied as a thin film that at least comprises both black markers (recommended bonding length 40 mm). 12 Installation of the optical sensor fiber OptiMet OMF 2.3 Installation with X120 adhesive When using the adhesive X120 (order number 1 X120) the optical sensor fiber OptiMet OMF is first surrounded by X120 adhesive at least between both black markers and subsequently fixed on the specimen under small tension outside these markers by two stripes of polyimide adhesive stripes (order number 1 KLEBEBAND). The recommended bonding length is 40 mm. It is recommended to use a toothpick in order to direct the fiber to the specimen surface within the bonding. Then additional X120 adhesive is applied on top of fixed sensor fiber as coverage. At room temperature, X120 needs 24 hours for curing. For other curing temperatures, please refer to the X120 manual. 2.4 Completion of the measuring point After curing the adhesive, we recommend using a strain relief for the optical sensor fiber OptiMet OMF. Therefore, position the fiber at both ends in a gentle loop and fix these to the surface preferentially with X60 adhesive (order number 1 X60). 10 A HBM: public OptiMet-OMF

13 Laying the optical fiber 3 Laying the optical fiber The minimum radius of curvature for the respective fiber types must be complied with when laying optical fibers. A minimum radius of 2.5 mm outside the grid area must not be undershot when laying the optical sensor fiber OptiMet-OMF. The radius of curvature inside the marked grid area must be greater than 10 mm. It must be noted here that a flat installation is preferable. Always comply with the minimum radius of curvature for the respective fiber types when laying optical fibers. For the OptiMet OMF fiber, a minimum bending radius of 2.5 mm must be maintained. The fiber should not move during the measurement procedure so that measurements are as accurate as possible. It is therefore recommended that the fiber are fixed at appropriate points, e.g. with polyimide adhesive tape (order number 1-KLEBEBAND) or with adhesive X60 (order number 1-X60). 17 Vorbereitung der Installationsfläche 1 Vorbereitung der Installationsfläche Bei der Installation der optischen Sensorfaser OptiMet- OMF muss die Oberfläche des Testobjekts zunächst gereinigt sein. Dazu wird erst die Messstelle mit dem Reinigungsmittel RMS1 (Bestellnummer 1-RMS1) oder als Spray (Bestellnummer 1-RMS1-Spray, siehe Abb. 1.1) und Vliesstoff-Pads (Bestellnummer , siehe Abb. 1.2) für eine nachfolgende mechanische Bearbeitung grundgereinigt. 20 Installation der optischen Sensorfaser OptiMet-OMF 2 Installation der optischen Sensorfaser OptiMet-OMF 2.1 Installation mit Klebstoff EP310S Positionieren Sie die optische Sensorfaser OptiMet-OMF entlang der Messstelle unter einer leichten Spannung, so dass die Faser möglichst gerade liegt. Befestigen Sie die Faser in dieser Position mit zwei Polyimid-Klebestreifen (Bestellnummer 1-KLEBEBAND) außerhalb der beiden schwarzen Gittermarkierungen (Abb. 2.1). Abb. 2.1 Fixierung der optischen Sensorfaser OptiMet OMF Tragen Sie den Klebstoff EP310S (Bestellnummer 1 EP310S) entlang der optischen Sensorfaser OptiMet OMF auf. Die Verklebungslänge sollte mindestens die beiden schwarzen Markierungspunkte am Mess 6 A HBM: public OptiMet-OMF

Abb. 2.2 Auftragung des Klebstoffs EP310S entlang der Sensorfaser OptiMet OMF Legen Sie zunächst ein Stück Teflonfolie (Bestellnummer 1 Teflon) sowie anschließend zwei Streifen Silikon Kautschuk (EP310S beiliegend) auf die Messstelle (Abb. 2.3). Der Silikon Kautschuk sollte in Streifen von ca. 2 cm x 4 cm geschnitten werden. OptiMet-OMF A HBM: public 7

Belasten Sie die bedeckte Messstelle mit einem Gewicht von 1 kg unter möglichst ebener Auflage. Die Last sollte möglichst symmetrisch auf der Sensorfaser OptiMet OMF liegen. Der Kleber wird über 2 Stunden bei 150 C ausgehärtet. 8 A HBM: public OptiMet-OMF

23 Installation der optischen Sensorfaser OptiMet-OMF Abb. 2.4 Belastung der Messstelle der Sensorfaser OptiMet OMF 2.2 Installation mit Klebstoff X60 Bei Verwendung des Klebstoffs X60 (Bestellnummer 1 X60) wird die optische Sensorfaser OptiMet OMF zunächst mit zwei Streifen Polyimid Klebeband (Bestellnummer 1 KLEBEBAND) außerhalb der beiden schwarzen Gittermarkierungen unter leichter Spannung am Bauteil fixiert. Dann wird der Klebstoff X60 mit geänderter Rezeptur angerührt (16 Tropfen der Komponente B auf 1 Spatel der Komponente A) und so aufgetragen, dass er mindestens die beiden schwarzen Markierungen umfasst (empfohlene Mindestklebelänge 40 mm). 24 Installation der optischen Sensorfaser OptiMet-OMF 2.3 Installation mit Klebstoff X120 Bei Verwendung des Klebstoffs X120 (Bestellnummer 1 X120) wird die optische Sensorfaser OptiMet OMF zunächst mindestens zwischen den beiden schwarzen Gittermarkierungen mit X120 umgeben und dann mit zwei Streifen Polyimid Klebeband (Bestellnummer 1 KLEBEBAND) außerhalb der beiden schwarzen Gittermarkierungen unter leichter Spannung am Bauteil fixiert. Eine Klebelänge von 40 mm wird empfohlen. Es empfiehlt sich weiterhin, die Faser innerhalb der Verklebung mit einem Zahnstocher an die Bauteil-Oberfläche zu führen. Dann wird zusätzlich X120 Klebstoff als Abdeckung aufgetragen. Bei Raumtemperatur benötigt X Stunden zum Aushärten. Andere Aushärtebedingungen sind in der Gebrauchsanweisung zu X120 zu finden. 2.4 Fertigstellung der Messstelle Nach Aushärten des Klebstoffs empfehlen wir die Verwendung einer Zugentlastung für die optische Sensorfaser OptiMet OMF. Dazu legen Sie die Faser an beiden Enden vorsichtig in einer leicht gekrümmten Schleife und fixieren diese auf der Bauteiloberfläche bevorzugt mit Klebstoff X60 (Bestellnummer 1 X60). 10 A HBM: public OptiMet-OMF

25 Verlegen der optischen Faser 3 Verlegen der optischen Faser Beim Verlegen optischer Fasern ist der minimale Krümmungsradius des jeweiligen Fasertyps einzuhalten. Für die Verlegung der optischen Sensorfaser OptiMet- OMF darf ein Mindestradius von 2,5 mm außerhalb des Gitterbereichs nicht unterschritten werden. Innerhalb des markierten Gitterbereichs muss der Krümmungsradius größer als 10 mm sein. An dieser Stelle der Hinweis, dass eine ebene Installation zu bevorzugen ist. Die Faser sollte sich während des Messvorgangs nicht bewegen, um möglichst genaue Messungen zu ermöglichen. Es empfiehlt sich daher, die Faser an entsprechenden Stellen z.b. mit Polyimid Klebeband (Bestellnummer 1 KLEBEBAND) oder mit Klebstoff X60 (Bestellnummer 1 X60) zu fixieren.
