1 CALENDAR OF EVENTS Autumn and Winter 2017/18
2 HAPPENING IN HEREFORD Hereford Racecourse Tel hereford-racecourse.co.uk GO RACING AND STAY AT CASTLE HOUSE Hereford Racecourse stages Jump racing between October and March and last season 20,000 racegoers enjoyed the sporting action in the heart of Herefordshire. With views over the beautiful cathedral city of Hereford, the racecourse is a stunning venue for not only racing but also many other events. Call us for details of packages. Race days: Tuesday, 17th October 2017 Monday, 8th January 2018 Tuesday, 14th November 2017 Tuesday, 16th January 2018 Wednesday, 29th November 2017 Monday, 29th January 2018 Saturday, 16th December 2017 Until December 31st, am to 5pm LAW, LIFE AND LANDSCAPE HEREFORD CATHEDRAL S MAGNA CARTA 1217 EXHIBITION Hereford Cathedral has put its 1217 Magna Carta on display in a special exhibition lasting until 31st December, Law, Life and Landscape celebrates the 800th anniversary of the document, which forms the centrepiece of the presentation in the Cathedral library s exhibition gallery. The 1217 Charter brought an end to the Civil War in England which the more famous 1215 Charter of Liberties had failed to conclude. It was the first to be called Magna, to distinguish it from the smaller Forest Charter published alongside it. Hereford Cathedral possesses one of only four surviving official copies of the 1217 Magna Carta. It is too fragile to be on permanent display, although it went on 37,000 mile world tour in 2015, when it was seen by over 25,000 people. Admission free.
