Thank you to everyone who attended and to the community organizations and businesses who helped make it such a success! I T I Projectpalooza 3 Featured Five 3 Adults 4 Crafts for Adults 5 Friends of the Library 5 P We are helping busy parents and students get ready for the science fair with ScienceFlix, an online science resource, and Projectpalooza, a series of events that will help students prepare their science and social studies projects. ScienceFlix is an online science resource that you and your family can use from home, from the library, from school, on the go...from anywhere you can connect to the internet at any time! All you need is your library card. ScienceFlix provides students with a better understanding of science concepts and ideas through hands-on experiments, videos, recommended websites, and more Projectpalooza is a series of events that will help students prepare their science and social studies fair boards. Students will be able to spread out, print, cut, glue, color, and decorate their project boards using the library's craft supplies. Project boards may be brought from home or purchased from the library for $2. Projectpalooza will be held at three locations. Everyone chooses a different recipe from a selected cookbook and prepares it for the following meeting. This month's theme is Weight Watchers recipes. Friday, November 16 6 pm L All Levels Vinyasa Yoga In this class, you will perform movements with breath, focus, and mindful meditation. You must be able to get up off the floor. Bring a yoga mat. We also had pop-up book sales at the Back to School Fairs, the STEM Fair, and the Halloween Extravaganza. We enjoyed talking to everyone who stopped by! Bring your own project board or buy one from us for $2. The room will be open for you to drop in anytime during the program and work as long as you wish until the program ends. T T F Trueflix is an online resource that focuses on engaging content in science and social studies for students in grades 3-6. You and your family can use from home, from the library, from school, on the go...from anywhere you can connect to the internet at any time! It looks and works great on a computer, laptop, tablet, and smartphone. All you need is your St. Charles Parish Library card. TrueFlix has a collection of introductory videos and other media, content designed for specific reading levels, and clickable books, which allow students to feed their curiosity by jumping to the part of the book that they are most interested in. There is information in eight subject areas: Disasters, Earth Science, Ecosystems, Experiments, Extreme Nature, The Human Body, Space, American Indians, Ancient Civilizations, the Civil War, Continents, U.S. Government, U.S. Regions, and Westward Expansion. T R E R L Teens visit our new teen room at the. Drop in after school and enjoy a space of your own to hang out with friends. During the day, patrons of all ages will be able to visit the room to read, play board games, and make simple guided crafts. Beginning at 3 pm the room will be for teens only. During teens only time, there will be a mix of activities including robotics, 3D printing, video games, crocheting, table top RPGs, washi tape crafts, and DIY accessories. On Monday, November 26, teens will get to design projects using 3D design software and see the 3D printer in action. Autumn Stargazing highlights the stars and constellations of fall. You and your family will learn to find your way around the autumn night sky using the stars as your guide. You will also learn that there are more than just stars to observe in the evening sky. The Little Star That Could will delight you and your children. You will join "Little Star," a young, yellow star, as he travels through space in search of planets to call his own. For All Ages For Children For All Ages ASTRONOMYTHS brings to life the ancient Greek and Roman stories behind the constellations of the autumn night sky. You and your family will learn the names of the autumn constellations and see the wonders of the universe hidden in each. Doors open 15 minutes before the scheduled showtime. Due to the unusual lighting conditions in the planetarium, no one is allowed to enter once the show has started. Please come early. 9
