3 NEW LEONARD VICTOR FORMAT The Leonard Victor competition is getting a makeover. 1. The outside judges have been a sore point for years. They are difficult to get. They cost $450. They have strange criteria. (one group was scoring the mats as much as the images). They fall asleep. Sometimes they do not show up. We are replacing the 3 outside judges with 9 PFLI judges. The scoring will therefor run from 54 to 81. Averages will be in effect for an image from a judges club. 2. Like most competitions you have ever seen flowers will no longer compete with monkeys. 4 specialty groups will be established.plants, ANIMALS, SCENICS and PEOPLE plus the current OPEN group. Awards, and Hall of Fame points, will be given to the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners in each group subject to a minimum number of entries a first place only, a 1st and 2nd and 45 and over a 1st, 2nd and 3rd. If a particular group does not meet the minimum...say the CPB PEOPLE has only 11 entries..then those images will be placed in the OPEN group. RED in the following chart shows the additions. CPA OPEN PLANTS, ANIMALS, PEOPLE, SCENIC CPB OPEN PLANTS, ANIMALS, PEOPLE, SCENIC BWA OPEN PLANTS, ANIMALS, PEOPLE, SCENIC BWB OPEN PLANTS, ANIMALS, PEOPLE, SCENIC DPA OPEN PLANTS, ANIMALS, PEOPLE, SCENIC DPB OPEN PLANTS, ANIMALS, PEOPLE, SCENIC CRE OPEN PLANTS, ANIMALS, PEOPLE, SCENIC We know not all of the groups will be filled. In fact due to the low entries in BWB there will probably be only the OPEN group as it is now. 3. The five 1st place winners in CPA will compete for the BEST LV Color A Print as will the CPB, BWA, BWB, DPA, and DPB. 4. The BEST LV DPA, DPB and Creative will face off for the GRAND PRIZE Digital Image.

8 A few years ago I published a book of 25 rules for better photography. In the coming months I will reprint those rules as a refresher course. Here are the first 2. Dick with a lot of work, but you will never make it great. And there is nothing you can do to change the angle of the composition. Finally a word about Photoshop. You now rent it in the cloud which has an ongoing monthly cost (which is sure to increase) plus the potential for all sorts of things to go wrong. Unless you are into high end professional work the far less expensive Elements is more than adequate.
