Rutter High Resolution Radar Solutions High Resolution Imagery, Target Detection, and Tracking At the core of our enhanced radar capabilities are proprietary radar processing and imaging technologies. Sigma S6 is a Windows -based hardware and software product that processes and distributes radar video and track data. Using multi-layered processing, Sigma S6 not only strips out weather and other forms of clutter that can constrain conventional radars, it also enhances the radar's ability to track very small targets and multiple objects moving at differing speeds. Sigma S6's superior target detection and tracking capabilities make it ideal for many different applications. All of the modules can be combined and used concurrently. VESSEL OPERATIONS The Sigma S6 Radar Processor is ideal for demanding applications such as marine radar enhancement and navigation, anti-piracy applications and search and rescue. SHORE-BASED MARITIME OPERATIONS Exceptional clarity combined with superior small object detection, and the ability to track multiple vessels moving at a wide range of speeds, provide a superior context for: harbor security, coastal surveillance, interdiction, vessel traffic systems and/or shore-based search and rescue. Unprocessed radar Image Processed with Clutter Removal Rutter Radar Modules Sigma S6 Ice Navigator Detection and Navigation System Sigma S6 Oil Spill Detection and Tracking System Sigma S6 Small Target Identification and Surveillance System Sigma S6 SeaFusion Radar Data Combiner Sigma S6 WaMoS II Wave and Ocean Current Monitoring System
Sigma S6 Ice Navigator Detection and Navigation System The Sigma S6 Rutter Ice Navigator System is used around the world for enhanced safety and more effective navigation in waters where ice may occur. The Sigma S6 Ice Navigator offers enhanced: Small target detection of small icebergs, bergy bits & growlers which are hazards to navigation. High resolution of sea ice for safety in navigation and sea ice research Standard radar processor Same radar but using the Sigma S6 Ice Navigator and processor & display High definition ice imaging leading to superior tracking and detection including the ability to adjust the radar tuning to customize the on-screen image. o Bergy Bits- 1-5 metres above sea level- Regular radar NM; Rutter- >4 NM o Growlers- <1 metre above sea level- Regular radar- <0.5NM; Rutter- >2 NM Track up to 300 targets simultaneously ensuring awareness of all activity within the range of the radar. Customizable client options facilitate information sharing with multiple locations. Camera integration and control supporting multiple cameras and automatic slewing. Chart underlay and AIS overlay options for Class A and B targets. Acquisition & Guard zones for automatic target detection and tracking. Customers include: Canadian Coast Guard vessels, USCG Healy, ExxonMobil vessels, Rosneft (Russian) vessels, St. Lawrence River bridge surveillance systems, and the R/V Sikuliaq.
Sigma S6 Oil Spill Detection and Monitoring System Oil spills are costly to both marine industries and the environment. Even with the best preventive measures, spills happen. The key to minimizing spill damage is early detection. The Sigma S6 Oil Spill Detection and Monitoring System detects even small quantities of oil at further distances across a broad range of sea states and weather conditions. Superior radar processing combined with motion compensation allows even vessel-based systems to detect oil at speeds over 10 knots. Vessel, platform or shore-side installations Oil slick detection with high Pd / low Fa Detection is via signal processing, not image processing Slicks are tracked using target plot / tracker from centroid Capable of detecting a light ( mm) to silver ( mm) sheen 4 nm range of detection and tracking with multiple slicks managed Minimum detection volume is 5L of oil in water test. EO/IR Camera integration including SECurus, FLIR Area and user managed Volume estimations ESRI outlines sharing for GIS / C2 systems Can be used to enable 24/7 recovery without the need to work in daylight. Credentials and Customers Norwegian Clean Seas Association for Operating Companies certification for Oil Spill Detection radar, Brazil / Petrobras has procured 30+ OSD systems, Marine Spill Response Corporation (USA) has deployed 25 sigma S6 OSD systems, the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management, Regulation and Enforcement is using the NOFO standard for OSD radar.
Sigma S6 Small Target Identification and Surveillance System The sigma S6 STS system has proven itself on offshore platforms, support vessels and in a range of coastal surveillance and monitoring applications. Our installed base includes coastal patrol vessels where the system is used for search and rescue operations and for detection of small craft for interdiction and security purposes. Rutter s Sigma S6 Small Target and Identification Solutions are in use for applications as diverse as avoiding fishing gear and floating objects during towed seismic operations, detecting birds, scouting for ice, wildlife monitoring, and lost container detection. Unprocessed radar image on left Processed radar image Dual mode Tracker, for fast and slow targets EO/IR camera integration High resolution radar imagery Low false alarm rate / High Probability Detection Small targets in the water do not get lost in the clutter therefore a much higher probability of detection of what you are looking for. Customers: Turks and Caicos Islands Coastal Surveillance for small craft detection, Dutch Antilles Coastal Surveillance, Indonesian government, Defence R&D Canada Northern Watch project (Canadian Arctic Sovereignty surveillance).
Sigma S6 SeaFusion Radar Data Combiner Sigma S6 SeaFusion decreases operational risk, consolidates tasks, and reduces the equipment footprint in operations rooms. Sigma S6 SeaFusion is used where coverage by a single radar may be obstructed by masts, derricks, or other superstructure, and multiple radars are required to provide 360 coverage around an installation. It merges independent data streams from two to four separate sigma S6 radar processors into one composite view. This eliminates the need to use multiple video screens to monitor a segmented view of the operating environment of a vessel or platform. Sigma S6 SeaFusion s singular 360 presentation makes tracking of moving targets or objects in multiple sectors completely seamless. Combines data from up to 4 radars providing a full 360-degree view Seamless target tracking across system radars Integrate wave and current analysis from multiple radars Automatic camera selection for target verification Customers: List not available, however many customers that have bought the Sigma S6 Ice Navigator, Sigma S6 Oil Spill Detection, or Sigma S6 Small Target Identification & Surveillance have also acquired the Sigma S6 SeaFusion system particularly for large structures like oil platforms and FPSO s.
Sigma S6 WaMoS II Wave Monitoring System Sigma S6 WaMoS II is a proven radar-based wave and surface current monitoring system developed by OceanWaveS GmbH. In comparison to conventional wave rider buoys and current profiling devices that generate single point measurements, Sigma S6 WaMoS II offers the advantages of presenting this information for a broad area, and in a richer context. Sigma S6 WaMoS II s measurements are constantly refreshed while a vessel is underway, providing real time data relevant to the local operational area as compared to conditions reported at a closest available point of reference. High definition images of wave fields combined with numerical data and intuitive graphical reporting keep the operator well informed in assessing environmental risk and identifying safe operational windows. As a complement to an existing sensor or as a primary system, Sigma S6 WaMoS II provides higher fidelity information with comparable accuracy, at lower lifecycle costs. Analysis of high resolution currents in discrete locations. Continuous operation from a fixed site or vessel underway up to 30 Kts. Determination of shallow water bathymetry. Sea state alarms for go-no go on operations or deployments. Capable of linking to multiple remote clients over low bandwidths. Screen recording as images or video. In use since 1992 Customers: Scripps Institution of Oceanography, Canadian Navy, US Office of Naval Research, University of Victoria, research organizations in Europe, Asia, and Australia, oil companies.
