3 History in Brief 1992 : Radio Tangra is established by Kiril Marichkov & Konstantin Markov, leaders of Shturtsite and Tangra - two of the most popular Bulgarian bands. Radio Tangra is among the first privately owned radio stations. Format: rock music : Radio Tangra has already become the market leader in Sofia. David Byrne from the Talking Heads performs a big concert for the radio s birthday : The first radio to support music made by Bulgarian artists plays 3 songs per hour, organizes live concerts.

4 History in Brief 1999 : Officially becomes Rock Radio Tangra The only one in Bulgaria! with a huge concert on May 31 st in the center of Sofia in front of 15, : Wins licenses for broadcasting in 8 of the biggest cities in Bulgaria : Majority of shares sold to a strategic investor, who is expected to expand the network : The strategic investor transforms the radio into a sports one, name changes to Gong. Rock Radio Tangra is dead : After 2-year preparations, Vassil Varbanov and part of the old team start Tangra Mega Rock online.

7 Bulgarian Rock is Alive In May 2006 Tangra Mega Rock started the operation Bulgarian Rock is Alive to revive the memory of the best Bulgarian rock bands. More than 50 of our best musicians visited our studio in May to tell the stories behind their music. In June we received demo tapes from more than 70 young rock bands.
