9 NEWSLETTER March 2017 Tips and Tricks To sharpen your scissors, use them to make a few cuts on a piece of aluminum foil. Use a magnet to pick up spilled needles or pins. When adjusting your sewing machine s tension, make sure the needles is in the up position. In a pinch (no pun intended), or on thicker projects, you can use wooden clothes pins in place of plastic or small metal binding clips. I saw an article that said for free motion machine quilting gloves you can use a pair of rubber coated garden gloves instead of quilting gloves. I picked up a package of 6 pairs colorful garden gloves for less than $15.00 at a home improvement store and tried tip this out. They worked well. So I m keeping two pairs in my sewing room and the other will go in the garage to use for gardening. Wow this was a great tip and a great bargain. Page 9
