3 Crocus Garden Instructions 15 inch placemat 12 inch candle mat An optional machine embroidery appliqué design to help in making this project is available at under Party with Patrick embroideries! Refer to these instructions for both the candle mat and placemat. Be sure to use the correct background and applique templates for the project you re making. 1. Refer to the appliqué pattern and quarter-round template page for instructions on cutting the background/scalloped quilt top. 2. Trace the appliqué templates onto the paper side of your fusible adhesive leaving approximately ½" between tracings. Be sure to trace the correct templates for the size of project you re making. 3. Roughly cut the templates from the adhesive just outside of the traced line. 4. Place the adhesive templates onto the wrong side of their corresponding appliqué fabrics and fuse in place according to manufacturer s instructions. 5. Neatly cut the appliqués from the fabrics on the traced template lines. 6. Peel the paper backing from the appliqués and arrange them on the appropriate size background piece. Fuse four flowers and eight leaves to the background. 7. Place the Sulky Tear-Easy stabilizer behind the appliqué sections and satin stitch the raw edges of the appliqués, using Sulky Premium 40 wt rayon thread. Remove the stabilizer after stitching. 8. Sandwich batting between top and backing with wrong sides of fabrics against batting. Quilt as desired. I used a straight stitch, in matching thread, around each appliqué satin stitching and next to binding. I quilted the piece using a free-motion stippling/meander stitch in the background. 9. 6 B Continuous Bias Binding Instructions Create a continuous bias binding strip, economically. Cut the 15 x 15" (placemat) or the 12 x 12" (candle mat) bias binding fabric square in half once diagonally (45 degree angle). Place two triangular pieces right sides together along straight edge as shown in Illustration A. Press. Using a gridded transparent ruler, measure from the long edge and draw a parallel line every 2¼ on the wrong side of the fabric, as shown in Illustration B. Fold the marked piece right sides together to form a tube, aligning the edges and pinning the marked lines so one width of the binding extends beyond the edge on each side as shown in Illustration C. Sew the tube together and press the seam open. Cut on the marked line to make one continuous 2¼ wide bias binding strip. Use this strip to bind any curved edges. 7 Chicken Salad Stuffed Eggs INGREDIENTS Recipe from Southern Living 2¼ pounds skinned and boned chicken breasts 1½ teaspoons salt, divided ½ teaspoon freshly ground pepper 24 large hard-cooked eggs, peeled 1 cup mayonnaise 2 green onions, finely chopped 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley 1 tablespoon chopped fresh dill 1. Sprinkle chicken evenly with 1 tsp. salt and 1/2 tsp. pepper. Grill, covered with grill lid, over high heat (400 to 500 ) 6 to 8 minutes on each side or until done. Let stand 15 minutes; cover and chill at least 30 minutes. 2. Slice hard-cooked eggs in half lengthwise; carefully remove yolks, keeping egg white halves intact. Reserve yolks for another use. 3. Stir together mayonnaise, next 4 ingredients, and remaining 1/2 tsp. salt in a large bowl. 4. Pulse cooled chicken, in batches, in a food processor 3 to 4 times or until shredded; stir into mayonnaise mixture until blended. Spoon chicken mixture evenly into egg white halves. Cover and chill at least 1 hour. Artwork 2012 Patrick Lose Pistachio Pudding Cake INGREDIENTS Recipe from JELL-O 1 (18.25 ounce) package yellow cake mix 1 pkg. (4 serving size) JELL-O Pistachio Flavor Instant Pudding 4 eggs 1¼ cups water ¼ cup oil ½ teaspoon almond extract 7 drops green food coloring 2 tablespoons powdered sugar 1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Place all ingredients except powdered sugar in large bowl. Beat with electric mixer on low speed 1 minute. Beat on medium speed 4 minutes. 2. Pour into greased and floured 10-inch fluted tube or tube pan. 3. Bake 50 to 55 minutes or until toothpick inserted near center comes out clean. Cool in pan on wire rack 15 minutes; remove from pan.
