1 Cindy Haddick Certified Judy Niemeyer instructor Cindy started sewing when she was 9 she took a summer school sewing class back when summer school was for fun, and she never stopped sewing! Cindy s inspiration and teacher has always been her mother, who worked at Minnesota Fabrics (later Hancock Fabrics) when Cindy was growing up. Her mother was a quilter, and when she passed away in July 2013, Cindy recognized quilting as a way to stay close to her. Cindy taught herself to quilt, starting with a large Bargello and then several simple One Block Wonder quilts. In late 2014, she came across Judy Niemeyer designs in a local shop and signed up for a class. After her first session, she knew she had found her passion! She loved the amount of detail that could be achieved with a JN design through the foundation paper piecing, floating sharp points, and simplified method for curved piecing. She still insists that they look much harder than they really are when discussing her quilts. Sunflower Illusions FRIDAY JUNE 1st Size: 62 x 72 (1.5 day class) 12:30 pm to 4:30 pm FOUNDATION PAPER PIECING Explore the exact and amazing world of Judy Niemeyer quilt design and construction. Judy Niemeyer patterns provide quilters with minimal previous experience, the ability in foundation paper piecing technique to create intricate and complex heirloom quality quilts. The Sunflower Illusions pattern features one foundation paper pieced block constructed in quarters, which allows some customization of the final quilt. Check out quiltworx.com for other colorways and more information about Cindy as a Judy Niemeyer certified instructor. Purchase of pattern prior to class is required in addition to class fee. Purchase online from quiltworx.com, or Amazon. Cindy completed her Judy Niemeyer certification in under two years, and has been to Judy s headquarters in Montana for training 5 times since discovering that first JN pattern. She now devotes her time exclusively to teaching, and providing custom long arm quilting services with her Gammill Statler. She loves what she does, and is excited to share her passion and experience with others. TRUNK SHOW.No need to be a quilter, just come and enjoy the exquisite quilts of visiting professional Cindy Haddick. It is always a treat to not only SEE quilts, but to HEAR the stories behind their conception and construction. Quilters are unique people who are always willing to tell of their journey. If you ve never attended a trunk show, you are in for a real treat! Doors open Friday June 1st at 6:30 pm - trunk show starts at 7:00 pm. $10 entry fee... Advance reservations required...desserts and door prizes...won t want to miss this one! Sign up on the Quilting on the Green Registration form. Limited to 100 tickets.
2 Winter Magic Wall Hanging 6.5 x 18 WOOL APPLIQUE Winter Magic (photo at right) is a fun wool appliqué with winter scene blocks of a snowman, Santa, and a reindeer surrounded by beautiful pine trees and snowflakes. This project is all hand stitched onto a background and then embroidered around the margins. Learn some basic embroidery stitches, how to work with wool, and different cutting techniques. Kit is recommended and includes the pattern, already traced freezer paper with pattern pieces, wool for one top, and one piece of flannel for backing. Cost is $30 paid at time of class. If you prefer to supply your own materials, the pattern may be purchased individually for $8. Seasonal Candle Mats FRIDAY JUNE 1st 12:30 to 4:30 pm 9 round WOOL APPLIQUE Whether you are new to wool or just want to play with some beautiful greens, oranges, plaids and solid colors, join us for these adorable hand stitched projects: Pumpkin & Oak Leaf or Snow Buddies Candle mats (pictured at lower right). Learn some basic stitching methods, techniques on cutting, and putting your project together. These make great gifts for the holiday seasons, too! Choose one project or both! Stephanie Chini My love of anything crafty began at an early age. I needed something to keep me occupied in the car on our family vacation. My cutoff jeans were perfect for my elementary embroidery doodles! Another summer I was hired as an assistant art counselor, but signing in at the camp, I was told I would be the head counselor. From the old leftover supplies in the art closet, I created activities for the young campers all summer. I have been designing, doodling, and playing ever since. I have taught basic quilting, and now am excited to share my techniques, ideas, and experiences with wool. I took a color theory class in college and am fascinated with color. I love to experiment with colors in wool dyeing. I have traveled and lived in several states and countries with my husband and children as part of the Air Force family. Pictures, landscapes, and life are my inspirations. Everywhere you look is a new idea! If you love Stephanie s designs she will also be teaching on 7/13 and 7/14 at Quilt Wyoming 2018! Kit is recommended and includes the pattern, all the wool fabric to make one candle mat, and freezer paper. Cost is $15 for Pumpkin & Oak Leaf; or $18 for Snow Buddies paid at time of class. Individual pattern cost is $6 if you prefer to supply your own materials. All classes in one location this year! Expedition Academy. Check the enclosed map for directions.

4 All Classes located at Expedition Academy 410 Upland Way Green River Wyoming See enclosed map for directions. Local Instructors BOBBI CLARK Lisa Twitchell I have been sewing most of my life, but started quilting in I opened Keama s Quilts in Green River, Wyoming April I ve been a long arm quilter since I love teaching and helping others with their quilting techniques! Quilt Techniques Made Easy 8:30 am to 12:30 pm It s all in the details! You will learn how to calculate fabric for borders, how to apply binding either by machine or by hand, how to prevent those pesky waves in borders; and how to achieve a perfect mitered corner. Sewing machine required in addition to basic sewing supplies. No patterns to purchase. Linda Travis I ve enjoyed sewing from childhood to the present. I love quilting. Since retiring from the nursing field about 10 years ago I spend a great deal of time creating in my sewing room. In 1997 I purchased an embroidery machine and Bernina embroidery software. It has been a passion ever since. Many of my quilts contain embroidery. I especially like all types of digitizing (i.e. embroidery software, quilting software, Electric Quilt). I ve attended many National education events to improve my skills. Beginning Machine Embroidery Learn the steps to successful machine embroidery-.good design, preparation of fabric, types of stabilizers and when to use them, hooping techniques, types of thread, and multi-hooping. This is a hands-on, technique class and you will embroider a block. It is not a piecing class but I will have examples of what can be done with embroidery. This class is for those new to machine embroidery or those wishing to improve their skills. An embroidery machine in good working order and your familiarity with the machine is needed for this class. I grew up around quilting and sewing. I learned to quilt and sew from my mother and I ve had a passion for it ever since. I currently run Valley Fabrics in Lyman, Wyoming and consider myself very lucky to have a job where I can express myself making beautiful creative quilts and sharing them with others! Double Dresden Learn to make a non-traditional Dresden block using the 36 degree Double Wide Dresden ruler that is twice as wide as the traditional version. The pattern includes only 10 wedges instead of the traditional number of 20 wedges. This change creates a star pattern in the center. Class will focus on making a table runner using different sizes. Explore all the options available with this technique. Super fun and you will be amazed at how easy this is! A Double Dresden ruler will be required. Kits can be purchased from Valley Fabrics in advance of the class date. Book is available for purchase, but not required.
