Dear readers, with today s special edition of Inside.Bock you will be presented for the first time our customer magazine under a new ownership structure and new management. the changes that come along with the entry into the GEA Group and continue to inform you about news and other important information about Bock and the GEA Group. We want to use the opportunity to introduce you to GEA Group, Bock s new parent company, in which Bock will be a part of the GEA Refrigeration Technologies segment. Bock will be one of the strong pillars in the field of component production of the segment and forms the basis for refrigeration systemsolutions at GEA together with the Grasso compressor factories in Berlin and s-hertogenbosch (Holland). The integration of Bock into the GEA Group certainly is a big change also for you as a customer. However, we want to ensure you again that the cooperation with you will remain unchanged in the future. We highly appreciate your trust and loyalty and want to thank you for it already today. 3 GEA acquires Bock Kältemaschinen GmbH The Specialist for Piston Compressors With the acquisition of Bock by the GEA Refrigeration Technologies GmbH, a new chapter in the 75-year old company history will be written. The company Bock Kältemaschinen GmbH, ownermanaged until now, becomes part of the segment GEA Refrigeration Technologies of the GEA Group AG and therefore complements the current compressor portfolio in the lower and medium output range. The acquisition is a positive gain for the GEA Group as well as for Bock: On the one hand because of the extension of the compressor-portfolio in the lower output range, on the other hand because of the many possible internal synergies due to the worldwide presence of the GEA Refrigeration Technologies segment. Bock furthermore provides market access to additional refrigeration applications and complements the technology basis for environmentally-friendly solutions with natural refrigerants that clearly show a market trend. Even though the integration process will bring along many changes, especially concerning the visual appearance, proven aspects of the company will remain. This includes keeping the total of over 340 employees at the headquarters in Frickenhausen and the Bock foreign plants, including their staff. Already in the 1960's Bock was a pioneer of mobile airconditioning - at that time as a manufacturer of the first airconditioning in passenger cars made in Germany. Bock as a new member of the GEA Group has the chance to use the strength of the umbrella brand to access new markets, such as the field of industrial refrigeration applications, and is at the same time able to strengthen the umbrella brand of the parent company in its already established markets. The business area mobile refrigeration applications will remain a core business of Bock, also under the responsibility of GEA. For existing Bock customers, their familiar sales contacts will remain responsible in the future.

4 Interview with Klaus Stojentin and Thies Hachfeld Bock will continue on course under the new GEA flag. Inside.Bock talked to the new members of the GEA Bock management board about the goals and plans of GEA Refrigeration Technologies with Bock in next few years. Thies Hachfeld, 46 years old, Dipl.-Ing. Mechanical Engineering Inside.Bock: Mr. Hachfeld, you initiated the acquisition of Bock and were involded right from the start. How did the first contact with the company occur? Thies Hacheld: I m connected to the company Bock for a long time. Already in my first job in a small refrigeration business in Hamburg I only used Bock compressors. The industry is meeting at trade fairs, commitees and organisations - and so did the well-known compressor manufacturers GEA Bock and GEA Grasso. Because Bock is serving another performance range, we weren t competing against each other and always had a friendly interaction. Two years ago, the vision of a joint future was born together with the owners. Inside.Bock: With the acquisition by the GEA Group, Bock is now part of one of the largest system providers for the production of food and energy. How does this go together with the Bock business areas bus air-conditioning and transport refrigeration? Klaus Stojentin: It fits perfectly. Bock is situated within the segment GEA Refrigeration Technologies in the GEA Group. Additionally, Bock s current business units have a lot of growth potential that we want to participate in. Inside.Bock: Do you plan changes in the Bock product portfolio? Klaus Stojentin: Bock already has one of the broadest ranges of open- and semi-hermetic piston compressors at the highest quality level. We want to extend this product range and focus on efficiency optimized models and more compressors for natural refrigerants in the future. Inside.Bock: Apart from the change in the management, will there be any personnel changes at Bock in the course of the integration? Klaus Stojentin: No, all Bock customers will keep their familiar sales contacts. And as we already explained, we are planning to clearly Klaus Stojentin, 44 years old, Dipl.-Ing. This goes along with an expansion of the personell resources to ensure the Bock specific support in the development and application engineering also in the future.

6 Bock complements the GEA s range of solutions The new link in the GEA chain - mobile applications With the segment GEA Refrigeration Technologies the GEA Group covers numerous applications in the area of refrigeration and air-conditioning. With the acquisition of Bock, an important strategic area is added: mobile applications. The application areas that already existed before the acquisition of Bock are introduced shortly below: Food Processing Of course, we all want our vegetables to be full of vitamins and our apples to be tasty and crisp. And one factor is often the key here: refrigeration. Proper cooling inhibits the proliferation of microorganisms, and freezing permanently seals freshness in these foods. Storage & Distribution What do vegetables have in common with bouquets of flowers? Both profit from our refrigeration experience during storage. With vegetables, cooling minimizes vitamin loss. Cooling prevents cut flowers from opening or wilting b e f o r e r e a c h i n g r e t a i l e r s. The Group belongs to the Hidden Champions of the German economy and can be found in almost any part of everyday s life. The initial business area of GEA, founded in 1920, is the heat exchanger industry. By now, the internationally operating technology group focuses on process technology and components for demanding production processes in various end markets. After a reorganisation, the GEA Group now consists of six segments. This structure provides a clear alignment of technologies and applications within the group. As a first measure of integration, the company website was already adapted at the end of April. Approximately every fourth liter of milk worldwide is extracted or further processed with equipment of the GEA Group. About a third of all instant coffee is produced in GEA Group systems and every second liter of beer may well have flowed through at least one component of the GEA production. All companies of the GEA Group have a similar design in their respective segment - for which reason the visual appearance of Bock will change in all media of communication in the course of the year. The content and structure of the Bock documentation will remain unchanged. At trade fairs and exhibitions GEA Bock will present itself in the future with a new design. In the course of the year, all instruction manuals and catalogues will appear in a new design.

8 Responsibility has a new name - Bock becomes GEA Bock The name Bock is a synonym for mobile refrigeration- and air-conditioning compressors for years. Bock stands for uncompromising quality and consistent customer orientation. In the future, Bock has access to ressources of the GEA Group with employees in more than 50 countries and can use this strength for new developments, more customer proximity and the challenges of the future.
