5 Long-term experience securing superior die quality Today, wire coatings are used by almost every industry for a variety of applications, including electrical motors, transformers or electrical measuring systems. For these applications the wire coating industry is producing mainly enamelled copper wire which has to endure the highest mechanical and thermal strain during bending, coiling, or soldering. Depending on the particular application, the copper wire is equipped with a single or dual enamel coat and exposed to temperatures of up to 300 degrees Celsius during further processing, for instance when producing enamelled thermoplastic wire. Precision-made dies guarantee perfectly enamelled wire Engine production, in particular, requires absolutely precise and continuous wire coating properties, e.g. for the manufacturing of ignition coils. The slightest cracks in the wire coating will have a negative impact on the electric insulation, rendering the coil useless. Application and usage are therefore inseparable, leaving no room for any errors during the wire coating process. 6 PRECISION MANUFACTURING IS THE MOST IMPORTANT ASPECT WHEN PRODUCING ENAMELLING DIES Optimum geometry guarantees an even and continuous coating process Manufacturing high-quality enamelling dies is a rather complex process, starting with material procurement via the entire manufacturing chain to the f inal surface treatment. Enamelling dies are made of corrosion-resistant aluminum, brass, ARCAP, or stainless steel with wear-resistant carbide inserts. The inserts undergo a special sintering process, providing for an optimum parts geometry which is responsible for a continuous wire coating during the drawing process. For the component production EUROMICRON uses the latest state-of-the-art processing and production equipment, while securing the supreme quality of the f inished products via continuous quality control measures. 7 Know-how and a certified quality control system securing our die production A comprehensive expertise in the production of mechanical precision turning and milling parts and bores in combination with state-ofthe-art production equipment and a certified quality control system acc. to DIN EN ISO 9001 form the basis for the production of highprecision enamelling dies at EUROMICRON. Specialized and well-trained personnel, part of which with several decades of experience in those areas, manufacture these high-tech products with the highest possible precision and quality. Statistical methods guarantee optimum procedures A fail-safe production has the highest priority at EUROMICRON. To avoid any failures, for instance due to tool wear or inconsistencies in the material used, EUROMICRON monitors the production process with the help of Statistical Process Control (SPC). Random sampling, statistical evaluation of the results, and a thorough adjustment of the process parameters guarantee a trouble-free production at EUROMICRON. ZEISS measuring machine as an integral part of the quality control circuit The very ambitious quality management system installed at EUROMICRON guarantees complete process tracking and control, from material procurement to the application of the final touches on the product. The size tolerances during the manufacturing process are monitored with the help of the most advanced testing equipment, such as for instance a hybrid Zeiss measuring machine with aircondition with a probing error of less than 2 µm, thus securing the elevated precision and quality characteristics of the finished products.

9 The line speed of enamelling machines is ever increasing. Whether for enamelling round, f lat, or prof iled wires - state of the art enamelling machines need appropriate dies to achieve high line speeds. Especially when it comes to rather small wires, with diameters down to 20 µm used for instance in microelectronics, a poor die selection may lead to an inferior coating, causing a high number of rejections during further processing. Therefore, EUROMICRON is offering a product pipeline of selected enamelling dies for horizontal and vertical enamelling machines, as well as adjustable tools for enamelling f lat and sizing wires. Dies for horizontal and vertical enamelling machines Closed enamelling dies made by EUROMICRON for cost-efficient use, guaranteeing superior homogeneity of the enamelled wire or fibers in horizontal as well as in vertical applications. The dies are made of corrosion-resistant ARCAP or stainless steel with tungsten carbide and PKD inserts. For a trouble-free identification all coating dies will be equipped with a solvent-resistant laser inscription. The delivery program includes 5 types for the horizontal and 8 types for the vertical use for wire diameters from mm. In addition to that, EUROMICRON will also manufacture on customer request. Adjustable tools for enamelling flat wire Flat wire is often used in medical applications, for instance in order to keep cross sections of catheters small or optimize the attainable Lumen size. Other typical applications: safety wires or helix coils for guide wires. For the enamelling of flat wires EUROMICRON offers a tool with four adjustable basic segments, equipped with enamel stripping rollers and an extension spring adjusting the tool to the size of the flat wire. The tool is manufactured in standard sizes with radii of mm and lengths of mm (other lengths, gradients, and depths on request). Sizing wire Sizing wire is used for die measuring or tool calibrating purposes. EUROMICRON is producing sizing wires with two ballistic tips made of spring steel wire acc. to DIN 17223, sheet 1 / DIN The wire is drawn to the desired size and cut off to obtain the required length. EUROMICRON sizing wire may be supplied with the following diameters: mm in graduations of 2 µm, length 35 mm mm in graduations of 5 µm, length 40 mm.
