2 Thanks for downloading this handy tool. You re going to enjoy this! Grab yourself a drink, coffee, dessert, turn on some music. Create the atmosphere that makes you feel happy and ALIVE! You ve already created step 1, by creating a list of all the things that you re curious about. In fact, this is how I came to start a podcast. I was curious about it. I wanted to know who does one, why they do one and so on. My curiosity actually led me to my one of my passion projects. Don t start step 2 until you do step 1. Spend the time on this. Spend minutes on this and then put it down on your kitchen counter or your nightstand for a week. Throughout the week, add to the list. Don t overthink it.. Just let the ideas come to you. Just write them down. Don t get impatient with yourself. Put on music that you used to listen to when you re were younger and more optimistic. Watch an old film from your childhood. My go to movie is Goonies or My Cousin Vinny! Enjoy this process and this time to let your mind wander and be curious

Don t proceed to Step 2 until you ve completed Step 1. You ll start solutioning before you re ready. You deserve this time to reflect, brainstorm and daydream!

4 Step 2 - is to write down all your skills. Don t get shy.. Write down all the skills that you have. Toot your horn. Be proud of all the things that you have skills in. The list can be as long as you want. Highlight all the skills. These are all your strengths. Mine for example is that I love learning. Sapna's Skill Inventory Skills 1. Interview Skills 2. 5 Step 3 - look to see if there are any connections between items. I ve highlighted podcast in blue and all the skills that may support it (also in blue). 6 Step 4 - You can start to put together a story. Now you can look at the feasibility of a few of your items. You can start a pros/cons list or do a SWOT Analysis. A SWOT analysis looks at the strengths, opportunities, weaknesses and threats. I m going to pick my item of podcasting. Strengths Opportunities Understands technology trends Global citizen Interview skills International management consulting experience Technology background To profile Canadian thought leaders To bring diversity to podcasting Continuous learning opportunities To stay on top of industry trends Increased networking opportunities Weaknesses Threats No podcasting experience Knowledge of how to start podcast Don t know anyone that does a podcast Limited Canadian network No website Capital to buy equipment Lots of podcasts out there Not revenue generating Heavy time intensive Fear of failure As you can see, I had a lot of weaknesses and threats facing me. But when I looked at the list, the pros of the opportunities outweighed the weaknesses & threats for me. Then I started to look at each of the weaknesses & threats to see how I could mitigate them. I started to develop a plan.

7 Categories: To Explore: Weaknesses: No podcasting experience Knowledge of how to start podcast Don t know anyone that does a podcast Limited Canadian network No website Facebook support groups Online courses that teach you how to start a podcast Could hire someone to develop a website for me & easy drag & drop website development tools Threats: Capital to buy equipment Lots of podcasts out there Not revenue generating Heavy time intensive Fear of failure Identify what equipment do I need to buy - how much would it cost To figure out how to differentiate my podcast from others To start with the podcast minimum viable product and then identify opportunities to streamline the process Failing to try - will be regret, if I don t try! Once I started to look how what might be in my way, I started to look at the opportunities and the different options. You can even write down your next steps. You ve now found new clues that will lead you closer to your passion! And voila you have identified not just something that you re curious about, but something that is feasible!
