Senior Regent s Message Thank you to all who donated to the Back To School Drive. We were able to Kristie Frein supply over 400 items for Social Services to distribute. Well done Moose members! Your generosity is very much appreciated. Our annual dinner honoring the North Port Police and Fire Rescue Departments will be held on Saturday, September 3. The menu is baked ham, green beans, macaroni and cheese, and roll. Representatives will be in the Lodge and will take back prepared dinners for their on-duty personnel. We will serve dinner in the Lodge from 5-7 PM. Please join us in showing appreciation for our dedicated North Port emergency staff. After dinner on September 3 we will hold a Pound Auction, which is always fun and back by popular demand. Each item up for auction might be a wonderful gift, a pound of fudge, or a pound of pennies. If you would like to donate, get creative and bring a gift-wrapped item weighing approximately one pound to be auctioned to the highest bidder. Like a box of chocolates, you never know what you re gonna get! Nosh night in September is Sunday, August 25 from 4-6 PM. Bring a dish to share or buy the wonderful buffet. After dinner will be Show Me The Money and door prizes. MERCY, SAVE THE DATE! October 22 will be a special night for dinner and entertainment headlined by Mike T, a well-known Roy Orbison impersonator with 5-star reviews, and will include other artists with music from that era. Tickets will be on sale in the Social Quarters. We expect a packed house for this event, so don t delay! Administrator's Message There are some good events happening in September, make sure you look at the calendar board or stop by and pick up a calendar. Ken Lipp Hats off to our Moose Legionnaires for a swell turn-out for their steak fry. We are doing our bus trip to the Bus and Bears game Nov. 13 which has been a great success in ticket sales. I hope everyone who signed up is Ready for Some Football. Don't forget that you can come out and watch your favorite team in season. While watching the game you can relax, cheer and enjoy a great lunch. Don't forget about our Queen of Hearts on Wednesday which is at 6:00 and our Meat Bingo at 7:00 on Thursdays. Come out and enjoy lunch and dinner. Wayne is running lunchtime specials Wednesday through Friday. Please remember Always be proud to show your Moose Card. Not sure where the summer has gone but I would like to thank all our members who have ventured out in this heat and the Gene Herbst many days of rain to come and show your support. Our mortgage pay-off campaign is a little sluggish but the support that our members who have contributed has brought a positive change to our thermometer board. I know with your help we can do it. 3 3 Annual First Responder Dinner On Saturday, September 3 the Women of the Moose and Loyal Order of the Moose will recognize members of the North Port Police and Fire-Rescue Departments. This event is to honor the men and women who are our first responders to emergencies here in the City of North Port. Roy Orbison Tribute starring MIKE T. A special event dedicated to Roy Orbison s legacy. Tickets are on sale at the bar now for this 5-star show starring Mike T and other performers representing this wonderful music era. This is expected to be sell-out, so get your tickets now so you don t miss the show. Sponsored by Chapter #1892 Women of the Moose. All members of the Lodge are welcome and encouraged to attend. We will be providing a ham dinner to the first responders who will take the prepared meals back to their duty stations. Get your chance for a Corvette at the Club, address below. The 10th annual Day for Kids event will be held September 24 at the Gene Matthews Boys & Girls Club located at 6851 S. Biscayne Drive, North Port. A free event, Day for Kids is a national celebration of kids where communities and families come together to honor children under a single premise: adults who spend meaningful time with kids fulfill one of the most basic needs in a child s healthy development. This free community event will feature fun-filled games, activities and food for the entire family to enjoy. As in past years, Day for Kids will be a great event for the community to enjoy, says Wayne Ard, Gene Matthews Club Director. This year s event includes a raffle of a vintage 1990 Corvette pace car used in the Indianapolis 500. Only 1,500 tickets available at $20 each. 5 5 Final meeting of FBMA District 24 is September 10, at Gulf Cove Lodge #2554. Following a statewide reorganization of Moose districts, District 24 will be dissolved and all lodges in that district are now in District 22. Except for the new district number, nothing else has changed in the makeup of the district. Beginning in October, Lodge Administrator Ken Lipp will become president of FBMA District 22. The meetings still take place on the second Saturday of every month at. The meeting location is on a rotating schedule between all six District 22 Lodge. Members are encouraged to attend a District 22 meeting to learn about events at local Lodges.
