Do not forget we are doing a Valentine exchange this month. It is a wonderful way to get a painting piece from a member. Remember our charities SVdP and "Memory Boxes". Thank you to Judy for a wonderful Paint In. Missed some of our members but we had guests from other chapters visiting and painting with us. There are six of us going to Vegas at the end of the month. The project can be viewed on our website Contact Sherry Cooke-Hurm for more information and to sign up. The meetings begin at 10:00 am and are on the first Saturday of each month with a number of exceptions. They are held at Mountain Artists Guild, 228 N. Alarcon, Prescott. Paint-ins follow the meetings and cost only $5.00. Exchanges Share your amazing talent! We will have three exchanges again this year Valentine, Easter and Christmas. Valentine is to be painted on a shape of your choice and the exchange will be in February. Easter exchange needs to be on an egg shape and will be in March. Christmas is an ornament to exchange at the Christmas Party in Decmber.

4 THE JANUARY PAINT-IN WAS GREAT! The January paint-in got the group off to a great start! Judy Lopez taught a piece by Maxine Thomas called Welcome Winter. We even had two guests join us from the Valley, about 12 painters in all. We enjoyed being able to shop the boutique items during our lunch break, and thanks to all who provided the baked goods for dessert. Judy teaching

5 PAINT-INS FEBRUARY February's paint-in will be a Sue Kroll design on Scratchboard Shelby", taught by Pat Kaminsky. The scratch board, scratch tool will be provide with the pattern for $5. You need to bring white graphite paper, a 1/4" flat watercolor brush, Faber-Castell Pitt artist pen (India Ink), and an exacto knife. MARCH March s paint-in will be a class in stroke work finishing with a small Spring Strokes piece designed by Jamie Mills Price and Judy Lopez. Pattern and surface is $4 and will be available at the February meeting.

6 SILENT AUCTION The Silent Auction was painted by past member, Lois Eldridge. It was a cute clock with several attachments. The lucky winner was Pat Kaminsky. 7 LIBT will be hosting a seminar with Karen Hubbard on Saturday and Sunday, June 8 & 9, :30 am 4:00 pm at Mountain Artists Guild 228 N. Alarcon Street, Prescott, AZ Please arrive at 9am, as teaching starts at 9:30pm. Cost for each day will be $40.00 with no additional cost for non-members. Hi, for this year s seminar we are fortunate to have Karen Hubbard teaching us two of her designs. You don't want to wait long to sign up for this exciting seminar. We have 10 signups already and space for only 20. The Saturday project is also a brand new design of Karen's never taught before. It is a cute white squirrel on a 10" plate with a pinecone trim all around the rim. We will be ordering the plates for those who want them for $ each, this order needs to be placed on March 4th. The Sunday project is called Moss Raccoon design which can be viewed on Karen's website, Hubbard s Cupboard. I will know surface size needed after Las Vegas Convention. I will be receiving the samples of these two pieces at the Las Vegas Convention from Karen to show and obtain better pictures that will then be updated on the website when I return. For now the pictures shown below are what I have. Pot Luck each day. Water and snacks provided by LIBT Any questions or call me- Bev Morn Seminar Chair Karen Hubbard s Bio: I have always been interested in art and drew and painted a lot as a child, even taking painting classes at the age of 10. I began painting in my 20s, then took 10 years off to raise three daughters, returned to painting in 1974 and haven t stopped since. I painted mostly with oils to begin with, then gradually began to work with acrylics. I wanted to be able to paint very realistic wildlife and developed my now well-known technique for painting

8 fur and feathers, using a round pure sable brush. I generally paint on very smooth surfaces such as wood or Masonite. In 1988, I earned my CDA (Certified Decorative Artist) certificate from the National Society of Decorative Painters. I have taught at conventions and seminars extensively in the US and Canada and Japan, New Zealand, England and Italy for more than 30 ears, have won many Blue Ribbons and honors with my paintings. Artist Guild LET IT BE TOLED Member Meeting Minutes January 12, 2019 Guests: from Tumbleweed Tolers and Cactus Wren, Patty and Kathy Bigham Seminar: Bev Morn: Cost for each day seminar is $40. On Saturday we will paint a squirrel, which is one of Karen Hubbard s new patterns not previously taught in a seminar. On Sunday we will paint a raccoon. Class is limited to 20 people each day so sign up soon. Cost of special brush will be available later. Paint-In: Tava and Sherry: February paint in is taught by Pat Kaminsky which is on scratch board. You will need to bring a small flat brush, a PITT ink pen (indian ink, any size), exacto knife, and white carbon paper. March paint in is taught by Judy Lopez and is a strokework project. April project is on a teapot, cost $18 taught by Bonnie Dominquez. Pattern and surface is available. Minutes: accepted. Membership: Updated lists are available, contact Cheryl. Fundraiser: Jody: Fundraiser items will be displayed in kitchen for sale to membership. Start painting, please. Jody will be purchasing new patterns and surfaces in Las Vegas. Birthday girls were JoLynne which was a canvas won by Pat and light plates won by Sherry and Jo. Christmas Party news: nothing Other: Pat has brought black backpacks for painting.
