Cast on, knit and purl stitch, cable, yarn over, basic button hole and bind off to name a few. At the end you will have a fantastic project that will launch your skills into your next creation! Learn to crochet making a stylish project. Whether you are refreshing skills grandma taught you or starting from scratch, this pillow will jumpstart your skillset and have you an advanced beginner in no time. Project: Make a pillow Yarn: Worsted Cascade 220 or Kenzie Cost: $125 Date & Time: Tuesdays February 20, 27, March 6, 13 & :00am Crochet Critters! Which one do I make first? If you've never tried your hand at crochet, or are a crocheter, but never hooked amigarumi critters, try this! Unlike traditional teeny tiny amigurumi you can use any weight yarn you're comfortable with to create these fun animals. Basic crochet stitches, working in the round, finishing, and embroidery are all part of the process. Work from one of the Menagerie Books, or grab a kit. Spend some time getting set up on Ravelry. We will work together to organize your stash, find your favorite designers and join their groups, join the Rows of PurL group and build your pattern library. 2 Just Magic Loop! In this two hour quickie workshop you will learn to do the fantastic magic loop technique. If you have ever felt frustrated by the tedious double pointed needles then this is for you. Open your eyes to a faster, more comfortable style of knitting with circular needles that will have you ready to do sleeves, socks and much more in no time at all. Project: Swatching in Magic Loop Yarn: Cascade 220 or Encore Worsted Skill Level: Been There Advanced Beginner Cost: $25 Date & Time: Saturday January :00pm Circular Knitting Workshop! Back by popular demand Are you tired of knitting back and forth on scarves? Then this is the workshop for you. In this 3 hour class you will learn how to knit in the round using circular needles. We will show you several methods of joining in the round, keeping track of your rounds, identifying your stitches in the round, and how to bind off. You'll go home having started on a cowl, the perfect project for exploring circular knitting. Over 7,000 knitters have made this beauty, so we couldn t resist adding it to our class list. Summer Flies is a perfect accessory for a breezy summer evening. This lovely, lace shawl showcases a butterfly lace motif and knotted openwork trellis motif set apart by eyelet sections. The shawl begins with a garter tab and all increases are done on the right-side rows. It knits up quickly in DK or worsted weight yarn, so you'll have it done before summer arrives. 3 Two Color Brioche! Working two color Brioche in the round is quite different from working it flat. With Purl Soho's Brioche Hat and Cowl pattern, expect dramatic results. A little barking and burping and a lot of brioche stitch anatomy all come together in this class to give you this happy, colorful knit your friends will be drooling over. Project: Purl Soho Two Color Brioche Cowl Yarn: Chunky Weight Yarn Date & Time: Wednesday eves January 10, 24 & 31 Ramble Shawl! This beautiful asymmetrical shawl starts simply enough with a 2-color garter stripe. But the real beauty happens in the 2-color herringbone brioche border. It s a great next step in your brioche journey. Knit in a DK weight it will be cozy and cushy. Try using 2 high contrast colors of Classic Alpaca or pair a colorful Gina with a contrasting Kenzie. Project: Two Color Brioche Shawl Yarn: Try Cashmere Queen, Kenzie or Classic Alpaca Date & Time: Fridays January 19, 26, Feb 2 & :30am Beginner Spinning! Have you ever felt drawn to the spinning process and thought 'someday I'd like to do that'? This is the time! This class, taught by a Master Spinner, will be an over view of spinning fiber on a wheel. We will start with a raw fleece and learn the skills that will allow you to spin your own yarn on your wheel. We will go from sheep to yarn! A spinning wheel in good working order prior to class is required. Skill level: Newbie Beginner No Experience Required Cost: $160 (optional spinning wheel rental fee $50 with refundable deposit) Date and Time: Class is filling...please call to get on the list! (Class will run once 4 or more have signed up. Please suggest flexible desired times.) Spinning Open House! Open spinning group for all local spinners in the area. Bring your wheel and spin with us. We will be meeting the 2 nd Thursday of each month to spin, share and learn from each other all while having fun. Work on finishing some of your beloved projects. 4 Acid Dyeing Workshop! What a fun way to kick off the new year with your very own creation. The color combos are endless! Join us in creating a one of a kind skein of yarn by acid dying. We will start with a simple warm up exercise to get the feel for the way colors blend. Next, use a hand-painting/ pouring method to dye your own skein of yarn. You will learn the basics of dyeing and go home with your unique skein. Skill level: Newbie...Beginner No Experience Required Date and Time: Saturday February :00pm Scarf Workshop! Yeah, let s play with a new material! Silk scarves are beautiful to wear and make nice gifts for your favorite loved ones. Learn the basics of natural dyeing using materials the earth provides. Try your hand at creating unique colors that are set apart. Special for this season are cochineal and onion skins. We love to watch this exciting, creative process come to life! Enter the world of creating your own yarn using a drop spindle. We will learn the fundamentals of spinning fiber and creating yarn. The drop spindle is so easy to bring with you wherever you go! Winter is here and we have to keep those heads warm. Choose from three different hat patterns. There is one for everyone's style whether you like cables or texture. Knit entirely in garter stitch it is a great way to learn the Cable Cast On and important finishing skills like the Three Needle Bind Off and Mattress Stitch seams on garter stitch.
