1 Closed November 22 for Thanksgiving Day New Guy, New Girl Trunk show November 1 to 21 Kate Oates has created two beautiful ensembles to greet the new baby in your life in style. New Guy and New Girl each feature 5 pieces sized from preemie to toddler. Garments also have variations in sleeve and leg length. All the garments from these two booklets will be visiting Sheep s Clothing in November to help you make your baby knitting plans. 1

2 All Day Mitten Add the practical art of mitten making to your skill set in this all day class. Your class mitten will be done in a bulky yarn so that you can complete it during class. You ll work with our own shop mitten pattern written for all sizes and weights of yarn. Once you master this mitten making formula, you ll never be more than a couple hours away from a new pair of mittens and warm hands for anyone on your knit list. November 17 Teacher: Debbie Oven Mitt Knit and felt your own oven mitts in time for holiday baking. When you grab the mitt to pull cookies out of the oven you will appreciate the superior insulating properties of a thick wool felt. Make you mitts in cheerful color stripes or all one color. 3 FloatingStars Stars are common in folk knitting traditions because they are easy to memorize and fun to work. This capelet uses enlarged versions of the traditional star shape with lots of space between the stars. To make this work, we ll need to master a technique called continuous trapping so that the long floats of yarn between stars will be safely anchored in the knit fabric. This class will give you a new technique to add to your fair isle tool box. We ll also explore it s history involving Armenian expats living in Paris in the early 20th century. Class participants will also receive a pattern for companion fingerless gloves. Tuesday November 6, 13, 20, 27 2 pm or 7 pm Teacher: Paula 3 Gnome This one session class requires no prior experience in knitting or crocheting. Your needle felted gnome can be done in earth and forest colors. Or choose red and green, call him a Christmas elf, and hang him on your tree. The shaping techniques you will learn in class will be useful for future needle felting projects. Your class fee includes wool for the gnome and a complete needle felting starter kit. 4 Hopkins Jill Zielinski, the Plucky Knitter, uses the honeycomb cable for the body of this poncho. Classic cables outline the two arm slits, which come together after the slit to create a pleasing shoulder detail. You ll finish off with a cozy cowl neck. Work it in your choice of a smooth worsted weight yarn. Nov 8, 15, 29, Dec 6 6 to 8 pm Teacher: Debbie Asymmetric Cardie This cardigan is a first sweater friendly project taught by Kate, who truly loves to help people achieve a wearable piece to be proud of on the very first go. You ll work with an easy to understand pattern published by Knitting Pure and Simple. Kate will also have you try on your sweater in progress at appropriate points along the way so that you can make fit adjustments as needed. 5 Caterpillar to Butterfly Scarf&Wrap This easy knit piece in humble garter stitch will morph before your very eyes into a graceful fashion piece. Planned dropped stitches create the fabric. You ll feel like you are watching a butterfly emerging from its cocoon when you let the stitches drop all the way down to the cast on. In this class you will make a small sample piece while learning the critical secrets to success for this project. Secret number one is choosing an appropriate yarn. Kate will help you understand the yarn characteristics that work well for this project. She ll have a basket of suitable choices for your class sample piece. Secret number two is in the right beginning. And finally, secret number three is Kate s special bind off. Nov 1 1 to 4 pm $40 includes yarn Teacher: Kate 5 Granger This top down cardigan uses Berroco s new yarn, Pixel, a gentle self striping yarn with a sprinkling of small dots of color. The designer adds some refinements to the basic top down raglan formula. These refinements are done to achieve a better fit. Heidi will help you create the roadmap that will make it easy to navigate these pattern details. You ll also enjoy knitting in the handy pockets. 6 Cocoknits Julie Weisenberger of Cocoknits has created a top down, seamless sweater making system that imitates the look of a set in sleeve. It is a perfect technique for enjoying a fiber while making a quick, simple, classic sweater. Sometimes seamless sweaters suffer from lack of structure that causes them to lose shape. Julie Weisenberger has conquered this problem by adapting the English Tailored Shoulder to hand knitting. Her techniques give your sweater good bones, providing structure and support in the critical shoulder area. The goal of this class is to get you comfortable with the Cocoknits basic sweater system and help you see how you can easily make small modifications to get the sweater you want. Julie's methods will help you think about gauge in a new way, knitting yarns at looser gauges than the ball band suggests. There will be sweater options at 3, 4, and 5 stitches per inch. 7 Beginners Classes Learn Knitting Learn to knit by making swatches of basic stitches. Emphasis is placed on learning to read your stitches so that you can become a confident knitter. Class also includes a taste of lace and cables. Wednesday Nov 14, 21, 28, Dec 5 5:30 to 7:30 pm $60 includes all supplies Knit Beginner Project Practice the skills you learned in Knitting for Beginners while making a hat and scarf set. You ll learn to use circular and double pointed needles while making the hat. You ll also learn to read a multi gauge pattern. The scarf combines the cable, lace, and other stitches you learned in Knitting for Beginners with an emphasis on learning to read your stitches to build your knitting skill set. Tuesday 6 to 8 pm Nov 13, 20, 27 Open Classes $40 plus supplies Learn Crochet Begin your crochet future with a set of 3 classes designed to get you comfortable with the basic crochet stitches. You will begin with the classic granny square and end with a lightweight cowl. Basic finishing skills for crochet fabrics will also be included. 4 to 6 pm Nov 15, 29, Dec 6 $60 includes all supplies Crochet Beginner Project This class gives graduates of Crochet for Beginners a chance to practice their new skills while making a hat and scarf.
