CLASS SIZE: 20 CLASS DESCRIPTION: This sweater is named for the way the needle holds the stitches while knitting like a pretzel. Knitted without gauge great for leftover yarns. May be knitted in one or many colors. May be knit without a pattern, one or many patterns stitches. SUPPLIES: 8oz. Worsted weight yarn, size 8 needles, stitch markers, measuring tape, normal knitting supplies

CLASS SIZE: 12 CLASS DESCRIPTION: Learn all you ll need to know to knit a lace scarf. In this class you will work on many of the stitches that make up those lovely lace patterns you admire. Original pattern provided to finish on your own. SUPPLIES: Smooth DK weight yarn in pastel colors (NOT COTTON), size 5, 6, or 7 needles, stitch markers, row counter, scissors ADDITIONAL FEES: $2 cash collected in class for pattern

CLASS SIZE: 20 CLASS DESCRIPTION: This class will include tips and tricks for a more professional garment using techniques from the beginning of the project through the end. Seaming, blocking, edge stitches, cast-ons, bind-offs, buttonholes, buttons, zippers, mitering, cording, camouflage mistakes, and false seams are just some of the things covered in the class. SUPPLIES: Smooth, light colored yarns in worsted or DK weight in at least 2 colors. Corresponding needles in dps and circulars (size 7 & 8 for worsted weight, and size 5 & 6 for DK). Crochet hook in similar size as needles. Tapestry needle, stitch markers, 2 yards of sport weight cotton waste yarn, tape measure, calculator, 2 buttons (one ½ diameter), plus needle and sewing thread, short zipper, two regular sized paper clips, hand mixer from kitchen with one beater. CLASS SIZE: 18 CLASS DESCRIPTION: Garter stitch pattern which can grow into pillow top or afghan. Can be color planned or use one s stash. SUPPLIES: Variety of worsted weight yarns both light and dark. Needles, size 6 or 7 ADDITIONAL FEES: $3 cash to be paid to instructor for required pattern

5 CLASS: Sleeve from the Top Down TEACHER: Carol Singletary DATE & TIME: Friday, 1pm-4pm LEVEL: Intermediate / Experienced MAX. CLASS SIZE: 20 CLASS DESCRIPTION: This class will enable you to knit a sleeve from the top of your garment to the cuff. It eliminates sewing in the sleeve, gives you a custom length, shows you how to add decorative elements to enhance your sleeve attachment, how to do a gusset for a better fit, and select your cuff treatment to compliment your garment and make it look better than store bought. SUPPLIES: Smooth, light colored yarn in worsted or DK in 2 colors, one skein of each color. Corresponding size needles 5 & 6 for DK, or 7 & 8 for worsted in size 16 and 20 circular; and size 5 dps for DK, or size 7 dps for worsted weight. Crochet hook, tapestry needle, stitch markers, waste yarn, calculator, tape measure, pencil & paper for notes, plus necessary knitting supplies. CLASS SIZE: 25 CLASS DESCRIPTION: Knit a purely relaxing, beautifully fitting shawl without any hassle of reading patterns or charts. Use any weight yarn, any size needles, make it any size. Worked from the top down, this shawl incorporates easy shaping that makes it stay on your shoulders. You can finish it off in any number of different ways bind-off, easy crochet edge bind-off, or knit a ruffled border. CLASS SIZE: 20 CLASS DESCRIPTION: Fun-Fitted-Flattering-Fabulous-Faroese shawls are unique in their butterfly shape. They can be plain or fancy, sturdy and warm, or lacy gossamer. CLASS SIZE: 18 CLASS DESCRIPTION: The class will knit a purse size teddy bear utilizing double knitting technique. Handouts will be provided SUPPLIES: Fine yarn cotton, synthetic or wool (fingering to sport weight), size 2 or 3 needles.

9 CLASS: 25 Slick Tricks of the Trade CLASS IS FILLED TEACHER: Candace Eisner Strick TOTAL HOURS: 6 DATE & TIME: Saturday, 9am-noon (part 1), 1pm-4pm (part 2) LEVEL: Intermediate MAX. CLASS SIZE: 25 CLASS DESCRIPTION: Learn a new trick every 7 minutes. The following will be learned: knitting backwards, purling backwards, fixing a dropped stitch, 1 row buttonhole, spacing buttonholes evenly, increasing, decreasing, working short rows, cabling without a needle, binding off over cables, 2-needle bind-off, cutting your work, working twists, 2-color cast-on and bind-off, Latvian braids, knitting in ends, invisible cast-on, crochet hook cast-on, chained edging, mattress stitch, I-cord, and making twisted cords. SUPPLIES: 4 swatches (see homework), yarn and appropriate sized needles, cable needle, yarn or tapestry needle, crochet hook. HOMEWORK: 4 separate swatches (each 4 x4 or larger) in stockinette stitch. Two should be bound off, and the other two left on holders.

10 CLASS: Modular Knitting TEACHER: Candice Moore TOTAL HOURS: 6 DATE & TIME: Saturday, 9am-noon; Sunday 9am-noon LEVEL: Intermediate MAX. CLASS SIZE: 12 CLASS DESCRIPTION: This 6-hour class will teach you how to make mitered squares (plus rectangles & L-shapes) and to knit them one upon another. The first 3 hours will be learning how to and the second half will be laying out and starting your project. Choose between a scarf, pillow top, vest, sweater, or any other item that can be made out of squares. Learn the crochet cast-on and the repetitive pattern so that you will soon be saying just one more square. SUPPLIES: Sport or worsted weight yarn, appropriate size needles and crochet hook. Two colors of stitch markers, scissors, calculator, 3 color highlighters. For the second half of class 2 colors of contrasting yarn in sport or worsted weight with slightly more than half in main color. Example: vest in DK weight with 36 bust requires 1000 yards total, scarf or pillow top requires yards.

CLASS SIZE: 20 CLASS DESCRIPTION: Exploratory class in color theory, techniques and tips for lace knitting with multiple colors (e.g. changing colors and hiding ends), design schemes based on Fibonacci numbers and the Golden Ratio, working lace intarsia and using variegated yarns. CLASS SIZE: 12 CLASS DESCRIPTION: Learn to knit this versatile jacket, perfect for Houston weather. Easy to personalize with embellishments, this lacy, open and loose jacket construction is an exercise in knitting out of the box. 13 CLASS: Marvelous, Magical Mobius TEACHER: Candace Eisner Strick DATE & TIME: Sunday, 9am-noon LEVEL: Beginner / Intermediate MAX. CLASS SIZE: 25 CLASS DESCRIPTION: It s a hat or a neck warmer. It s easy, quick, and magic. Knit a rectangle, flip one end 180 degrees and join invisibly, magically making a reversible, one edged wonder of modern science! Have fun using novelty yarn that you can t find a use for! Learn the invisible loop cast-on and the crochet chain cast-on, grafting in both garter & stockinette. No fuss edgings, such as slip as if to purl with yarn in front, and YO twice, K2tog will be taught. Reversible stitch patterns will be explored, as well as applied I-cord. SUPPLIES: About 2 ounces of any weight yarn (no lighter than dk weight) and appropriately sized single pointed needles, circular needle at least 40" in length--longer is better, and double pointed needles, a crochet hook about the same diameter as the needles, a few yards of smooth yarn, a tapestry needle. HOMEWORK: Using any weight yarn, knit a swatch in garter stitch about 2 inches by 8 inches. Use a different color, smooth yarn for the cast on row. Leave sts on needles without breaking yarn.

CLASS SIZE: 20 CLASS DESCRIPTION: This class in advanced bead placement techniques to complement and enhance the knitted lace fabric. Learn design approaches for embellishing lace stitch patterns with beads, selecting beads and thread, stringing and efficient handling of beads while knitting. 15 CLASS: Basic Sock Knitting Class TEACHER: Sally Wickes DATE & TIME: Sunday, 1pm-4pm LEVEL: Advanced Beginner with experience using double points MAX. CLASS SIZE: 20 CLASS DESCRIPTION: We will knit a small child size sock so that we can experience cast-on, cuff, heel flap, turning heel, and closing toe. You will be given instructions for completing a pair of adult size socks with remaining yarn. SUPPLIES: One set of size 2 dps, 100 grams of sock weight yarn in any solid or heathered color (recommend against self-patterning yarn for first pair), tape measure, paper & pen for notes, calculator or a mind quicker than mine. HOMEWORK: Using the needles and yarn you intend to use for the mini-sock, knit a 4 x4 gauge swatch in stockinette.
