I like to look for that silver lining in situations like these. Think of how nice it is to stay inside and knit or crochet where the air is cool and we can take advantage of the many hours of sunlight this time of year gives us. 3 Classes for July at Babetta s In our project classes you can learn to knit anything from scarves to socks to felted purses to lace shawls to hats to sweaters. Pick your project and join in the fun. Our knitters inspire each other to try new things by sharing ideas and showing off their latest creation. Sign up for one of our classes and you will receive a coupon for 10% off. Pre-registration is required as class sizes are limited. Please choose your dates carefully. Because of scheduling conflicts and complications, make-up classes will only be allowed under special circumstances and individual consideration. Our project class knitting teachers Maya & Gustine have been teaching at Babetta s for 12 years and can help you make your fiber dreams come true in a fun and patient atmosphere. Private Lessons Knitting or Crochet $20 an hour Group Knitting or Crochet Private lessons $15 an hour per person. Spinning or weaving $25 an hour Group rates are $20 an hour per person. 50% deposit required when scheduling. Cancellations with less than 24 hour notice will forfeit deposit with exceptions for emergencies. Other cancellations can be transferred to rescheduled lessons or store credit. Charity Knitting Group How would you like to do some charity knitting/crocheting with a lovely group of people? The Purls of Fair Oaks meets the second Thursday every month from 10am to noon here at Babetta s. This wonderful group of knitters makes newborn hats for local hospitals as well as other local charity groups. If you d like to come join the group there s always room for more. This month s date is July 13. If you d like to drop off any knitted or crocheted donation items you can do that at any time and I will pass them on. Alice s Embrace has really grown since its inception. Read about this wonderful organization and how you can join in making gifts for those suffering with Alzheimer s. You can drop off your donations at Babetta s. We now have an Alice s Embrace Binder so you can pick out a pattern for your donation and we ll make a copy for you.

4 Free patterns for July 2017 A Bib for Ivy Materials: 1 ball Debbie Bliss Cotton Denim DK, size 6 needles, 2 - ½ buttons Gauge 22 sts to 4 but not crucial, you can make 2 bibs with 1 ball CO 40 sts, k 7 rows Row A: (ws) k5, p 30, k5 Row B: k Repeat these 2 rows for 5 Row C: (ws) k5, p5, k20, p5, k5 Row D: k Repeat these 2 rows 2 more times Repeat Row C Next row: k15, BO 10, k15 Working on right side of bib only (you can leave the left side on the needles to work on later or put them on a holder) Row E: k5, p5, k5 Row F: k Repeat these 2 rows for 4 ending with row E Next row: k3, yo, k2tog, k5, k2tog, yo, k3 K 5 rows, BO. Join yarn to left side beginning on a wrong side row, repeat rows E & F for 4 ending with row E, k 6 rows, BO Sew buttons to left strap to correspond to the buttons holes. Phoenix Necklace Materials: 1 ball Trendsetter Phoenix or Phoenix Prints, size 8 16 circulars, 1 stitch marker 1 st ring CO 90 sts, pm, join in the round being careful not to twist, k 5 rounds Next round* k5, BO around to last 5 sts, k10* 2 nd ring CO 100 sts using knitted CO or reverse thumb method, join in round again, k 5 rounds, repeat above section between ** 3 rd ring CO 120, join in round again, k 5 rounds, repeat section between ** 4 th ring CO 140, join in round again, knit 5 rounds, BO all sts Blocking is not necessary but I blocked mine by soaking it for 20 minutes and letting it hang to dry. I found that it draped better and looked more finished. This pattern uses every bit of the yarn so if you feel like you re running short knit only 4 rounds in the last ring before binding off

5 Yuri Slip Stitch Scarf Materials: 1 skein (color A) Classic Elite Yuri, 1 skein (color B) Online Supersocke, size 6 needles Gauge is not important in this project. You will be changing yarns every 4 rows and you can carry the color not being used up the side reincorporating it as needed. With (A) Yuri CO 59 sts, knit 2 rows Row 1: with A (k1,p1) 3 times, p to last 6 sts, (k1,p1) 3times Row 2: with B, (k1, p1) 3times, k3, *sl1with yarn in back, k3*, repeat to last 6 sts, (k1, p1) 3 times Row 3: with B, (k1, p1) 3 times, *sl1 with yarn in front, p3* repeat to last 6 sts (k1, p1) 3 times Row 4: with B repeat Row 2 Row 5: with B (k1, p1) 3 times, p to last 6 sts, (k1, p1) 3 times Change back to A and repeat rows 2 through 5 Continue in this manner working rows 2 through 5 alternating between color A & B until desired length. I stopped at 6 and it blocked about 10 longer. Fringe: cut 12 lengths of both yarns and attach 1 strand of both colors at end of each row if desired. Gioiello Crocheted Crossed Stitch Scarf Materials: size I crochet hook, 1 skein Gioiello by Filatura di Crosa Finished size 6 x 5 Dc=double crochet, sc=single crochet, sk=skip, st=stitch Chain 18, turn, skip 1, sc in back ridge across=17 sc *Ch 3, turn(counts as dc here and throughout), sk st, dc in next 2 st, dc in skipped st, repeat across, end row with dc in last st*=5 crossed sts and 1 dc at each end. Repeat between * and finish with 1 row of sc when you have about a yard of material left. Weave in ends and wet block.
