2 Rosa di Pistoia is a very large, triangular shaped top-down shawl. It is designed to wrap comfortably around the shoulders on long spring and summer evenings. It is knit in alternating sections of stockinet stitch and a simple lace pattern with great visual impact. Dimensions: 216 cm 85 in along the longer side and 80 cm 31 ½ in measured along the center (after blocking). Gauge: 17 sts and 30 rows = 10 cm 4 in in st st (after blocking). Gauge is not critical for this shawl. However, aggressive final blocking is essential in order to achieve the full suggested length and to allow the lace stitches to open up. Materiales: BORGO DE PAZZI Pima Silk (90% cotton and 10% silk: 220 m 240 yds for 50 gr oz. skein): 3 skeins (660 m 722 yds). Circular needles: 3.5 mm US 4 and 5 mm US 8 (optional, used for the final bind-off) with an 80 cm 32 in or longer cable. Please adjust needle size to obtain the specified gauge. 1 stitch marker. Tapestry needle and scissors. Pins and a tape measure for blocking.

3 Glossary: BO: bind off. CO: cast on. Provisional CO: using a crochet hook and cotton yarn, make a chain with the same number of sts as those to be cast-on; close the chain. Using the main yarn, insert the knitting needle (or crochet hook if you find it easier), wrap the yarn around the needle and pull a loop through (first st). Continue in this manner until you have cast-on all of the necessary sts. To block: wash the shawl in cold water with a small amount of gentle detergent; rinse. Squeeze the shawl between your hands, without twisting, to remove most of the water. Spread the shawl out on a large towel and roll it up into a cylindrical form, then press it well to remove all of the excess water. Unroll the towel and spread the shawl out on a large, flat, soft surface (that you can poke the pins into). Stretch firmly the shawl to the finished measurements indicated in the instructions, using a tape measure to check the dimensions. Pin the shawl down to hold its shape, placing the pins about 1 inch apart, being careful to push them firmly into the blocking board. Allow to dry. Wear it and... be chic!!!
