1 COURTYARD DOOR CANOPY INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS Recommended Tools: Electric Drill w/ Bits, Rachet or Nut Driver w/ Sockets, Level, Tape Measure, Screw Drivers (Phillips & Regular), Ladder Before You Begin: 1.) Please read all instructions carefully. Check Bill of Materials for any missing parts, and gather all necessary tools. The paint finish can be scratched so place materials on tarp or cardboard to prevent scratching. 2.) Note that this awning cover kit is not designed to carry additional loads such as hanging plants, swings, people, trellis's, or other objects. Rev'd - 11/01/05

3 STEP 1 Mark screw holes in mounting channel at 12" or 16" O.C. as per wall stud location and drill 1/4" holes (see Fig 1-2). Determine proper mounting height before marking and drilling holes in wall using mounting channel as a guide. Be sure to allow for ample head room above out swinging doors and accomadate the required amount of drop (see Fig. 9-1). 1 1/2" Lag Screw (refer. to Step 8) Wall Mounting Channel Fig. 1-1 STEP 2 Spread out fabric and slide side frames onto each end of fabric (see Fig. 2-1). Slide front frame onto front of fabric until ends are even with side frames (see Fig 2-2). 4 STEP 3 (OPTIONAL FRONT FRAME SPLICE) If front frame rails of your awning require splicing simply insert the center splice bar into adjoining ends of the front frame rails and secure threw the existing holes w/ 4 - #8 x 3/4" Tek Screws (see Fig 4-1). Front Frame Rail Fig. 4-1 #8 x 3/4" Tek Screw Center Splice Bar STEP 4 Lock front frames into side frames by inserting front frame ends into the pre-cut notches provided in the side frames Fasten frame ends and fabric together using a 1/4" x 2 1/2" bolt w/ wing nut at each end (see Fig. 3-1). 5 STEP 5 Slide mounting channel onto fabric (see Fig. 5-1). Place two 3/8" nuts onto tensioner bolts as shown in the Parts List on pg.2. Insert the tension bolt into mounting Channel and slide all but the outer 2 bolts into position. Be sure to align tension bolts with tensioning tube caps on front frame (see Fig. 5-2). Place bolt heads into mounting strip by sliding strip back and forth (see Fig. 6-1). Tighten The tension bolts to mounting channel by turning 3/8" nut closest to mtg. channel. 6 STEP 7 Place tensioning tube caps onto tensioning tubes and slide cap/tube assemblies onto the remaining tensioning bolts (see Fig. 7-1). Seat the open end of cap/tube assemblies into caps mounted along the front frame (see Fig. 7-2). (Note: We recomend completing Step 7 with the Awning Assy. turned upside-down as shown in Fig. 7-1 & 7-2.) Wall Mounting Channel Tensioning Bolt & Nut Assy. Fr. Attach the mounting channel to wall using 2" lag screws (see Fig. 8-1). Turn tensioning nuts on the tensioning bolts toward the front of the cover until fabric becomes taunt (see Fig 8-2). 7 STEP 9 Slide column/bracket assembly into slot along front frame. Secure to frame rail by drilling a 3/16" dia. hole through the frame rail and return arm bracket, fixing with a 3/6" x 1" Bolt and wing nut(see Fig. 9-2). (Note: Do Not bolt the frame rail and return arm bracket together until the correct wall mounting hinge hieght is determined and the return arm is in final mounting position while drilling starter hole.) 3/16" x 1" Bolt w/ Wing Nut Return Arm w/ Mtg. Bracket Fr. Frame Rail Fig. 9-1 Fig. 9-2 STEP 10 Once the mounting hieght for the wall mounting hinge is marked attach hinge to wall using 2-1 1/2" Lag Bolts (see Fig. 10-1). After mounting hinge to wall bolt the return arm to the wall mounting hinge using 1-2" bolt with nut (see Fig. 10-2). Wall Mtg. Hinge Return Arm Wall Mtg. 8 STEP 11 Cover rough and sharp edges on front corners with velcro strips. Begin installing the valance by sliding it into front frame (see Fig 11-1) and followed by feeding both ends into side frames (see Fig 11-2).
