3 BREAKROOM CABINETRY AAP BR102 AAP BR103 AAP BR104 STEP-BY-STEP INSTALLATION ATTENTION Please unpack and assemble in an area away from children's activities. Remove all tools and excess materials from work area after assembly of unit is complete. Dispose of pallet and packaging materials in an environmentally friendly manner. If any parts are missing or damaged, please call for immediate parts replacement. When ordering parts, give the Model Number and Color of the unit. Pulls are preinstalled on the inside of fronts and must be reinstalled on the outside. Breakroom Cabinetry is made up of individual Base Cabinets, Wall Cabinets and Countertops/ Backsplashes. Cabinets are interchangeable in left and right orientation. Multiple Base and Wall cabinets are joined together through their end panels to ensure a professional appearance. General assembly instructions are provided. Depending on the actual components, some steps may not be applicable to your specific configuration. Illustrations are general in nature and do not depict components and details unrelated to the assembly process. Installation of Base Cabinets and Countertops/Backsplashes is to be done first, which provides a surface for support of Wall Cabinets during their installation. Alera is in compliance with CARB Phase 2. 3

4 BREAKROOM CABINETRY STEP-BY-STEP INSTALLATION Base Cabinets 1 Note that it is required for attachment of Base and Wall cabinets to wood or metal studs. Never rely on simply anchoring into gypsum, plaster or thin paneling wall. Always fasten into hard areas of masonry walls, studs and internal wall blocking. 5 Using a level, adjust the Levelers until the sidewall, front edge and cabinet floor are plumb. Insert a 4mm hex wrench (provided) through the access holes in the cabinet floor to make the adjustments. Once the adjustments are complete, install the plastic plugs into the access holes. Block or concrete walls require attachment of cabinets to wall with proper concrete or masonry anchors. WALL ANCHORING REQUIREMENTS: AWI (Architectural Woodwork Institute) compliant shelf loading is a maximum of 50# per square foot of shelf. Drilled holes in cabinet floor allow access to levelers BASE CABINET INSTALLATION: 2 3 Remove at least top and bottom drawers of Base cabinets, to provide access during later steps. Be sure to note their location in cabinets, as they must go back in same location when installation is complete. Locate first Base cabinet against wall. Turn clockwise to lift, counterclockwise to lower. 6 Note that there is a minimum of six (6) standard locations for attachment of Base cabinet to building structure, as illustrated below. Anchoring devices (not provided) must pass through back of cabinet. 6 standard attachment locations: 3" down from top of cabinet 3" up from bottom of cabinet 2" in from end panels & mid-width of cabinet 4 Note that there are four (4) corner Levelers located behind the toe kick and accessible through drilled access holes in the cabinet floor. 5 BREAKROOM CABINETRY STEP-BY-STEP INSTALLATION Base Cabinets 7 Securely attach Base cabinet to building structure, in locations illustrated in Step #6. Fastening anchors (not provided) to be of type suitable for wall structures such as block and concrete, wood stud walls and metal stud walls. Do not attach only to drywall or thin paneling. Never rely on simply anchoring into gypsum, plaster or thin paneling wall. Always fasten into hard areas of masonry walls, studs and internal wall blocking. COUNTERTOP INSTALLATION: Countertops are quite heavy. Please use caution when handling. Do not attempt to handle without additional assistance. 9 A. Place Countertop on top of Base cabinet, centering it side-to-side and positioning firmly against the building structure. 8 IMPORTANT! Cabinets must be securely attached to building structure with anchoring devices of appropriate type, size and quantity in accordance with applicable codes and accepted installation practices. If there are multiple Base cabinets, continue to mount cabinets side-by-side, using previous installation steps. Align cabinet bottoms and front vertical edges for a professional appearance. Attach cabinet sides together, using 1 1/4" screws (provided), as may be necessary. B. To attach Countertop to Base cabinet, use 1 1/4" screws (provided) through the Front Rail and into the bottom of Countertop. Use 3/4 x #8 flat head screws (provided) through the Molded Corner Brackets at the upper rear of the cabinet and into the bottom of the Countertop. IMPORTANT! Do NOT use 1 1/4" screws with the Molded Corner Brackets. Molded Corner Brackets Use 3/4 x #8 flat head screws Front Rail Use 1 1/4" screws Hint: Use clamps to hold cabinets together during this process. Countertop C. Mount Backsplash to Countertop and Back Wall with silicone sealant (not provided). Carefully caulk bottom joint edge of Countertop to Backsplash. Replace drawers in Base cabinets, making sure to return them to their original locations. 10 5

7 LIMITED 5-YEAR WARRANTY Except as otherwise provided within this Limited Warranty, United Stationers Supply Co. ( USSCo ) will repair or replace any Alera and other USSCo branded furniture products, component or part that is found by USSCo to be defective in material or workmanship within five (5) years from the date of original purchase so long as you, the original purchaser, still own it. This is your sole and exclusive remedy. This limited warranty is subject to the provisions below. It applies to products sold within the United States of America and the Commonwealth of Canada. Limitations: Fabric, vinyl and/or leather is warranted for two (2) years from the date of original purchase of the chair by the original owner of the Alera product in question. Exclusions: This warranty does not apply and no other warranty applies to: Normal wear and tear, which are to be expected over the course of ownership. Modifications or attachments to the product that are not approved by USSCo. Products that were not installed, used or routinely and properly maintained in accordance with product instructions and warnings. Products used for rental purposes. Color variations in fabrics and finishes: USSCo does not warrant the color-fastness or matching of colors, grains or textures of covering materials. TO THE EXTENT ALLOWED BY LAW, USSCO DISCLAIMS ALL OTHER WARRANTIES, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING ANY WARRANTY OF MERCHANTABILITY OR FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE. USSCO WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY CONSEQUENTIAL OR INCIDENTAL DAMAGES. To obtain service under this warranty: Your Alera Reseller will work with USSCo in supporting your warranty requests. Please note: Written authorization of USSCo must be obtained before any warranty work is performed. To obtain authorization and to ensure the best level of customer service, please take the following steps: 1. If a defect is discovered, please contact the Reseller from whom the product was purchased within 30 days from the date of discovery. The Reseller will require information about the product such as: the SKU number, serial number and/or registration number or date of manufacture from the product in question and/or any original transaction documents affirming that you are the original purchaser of this product. 2. Following your claim, your Reseller will conduct an inspection and review. During this time your Reseller or their appointed servicing agent will gather information regarding the claim, inspect the product and contact a USSCo customer service representative. Please allow a reasonable amount of time for these activities.
