Union Boxes are available in two basic types, phenolic (or hard box) and thermoplastic (a soft style box). Advantages of Steel ity Union Boxes & overs New Fire Rating Multiple Union phenolic wall boxes, up to three- gang size, can be installed in the same stud cavity of a shared two-hour wall. They may also face opposite directions, with only a 3" horizontal separation. Unique Plaster Seal Phenolic boxes feature an exclusive plaster seal, preventing debris from entering into the receptacle mounting holes. 5 New Products FN-23 Thermoplastic Energy Efficient Vapor-Tight Boxes Union and Vapor-Tight boxes are designed to meet the energy efficiency requirements of modern homes. They feature a drywall flange, covered with a closed-cell foam gasket and additional gaskets over the cable entry points. These combine to provide a vapor-tight seal, preventing the free flow of air through the box. This makes them ideal for helping to control heating costs in the winter and cooling costs in the summer. Union and Vapor-Tight boxes feature: High strength polymer construction. Will not shatter when cold, unlike PV. Self clamping cable entry (two gang and up and the FB-16-F). Large cubic capacity.
