1 Eagle Double-Hung Replacement To assist you with measuring for Eagle double-hung replacement sash products, we ve included typical section details of double-hung products comparable to what may be in your home. 2 INSPECT THE OLD WINDOW Carefully inspect the existing window openings prior to ordering your Double- Hung Replacement Sash Kit. If any rotten wood on the frame and stops of the original window cannot be repaired or replaced, the opening will not be suitable for a Replacement Sash Kit. MEASURING THE OPENING Measure each window, even if they appear to be the same size. Use extreme accuracy when taking ments. STEP 2 SASH OPENING WIDTH. For sash opening width, take an inside ment of the frame from side jamb to side jamb. Do not from jamb liner to jamb liner. Measure in three locations: top, middle and bottom. Use the smallest ment of the three and round down to nearest 1/8". Record this ment on the worksheet provided. STEP 1 SILL ANGLE. Eagle Double-Hung Replacement Sash Kits are built to fit your specific window frame. The sill angle must be specified to cut angles for jamb liners and to provide you with the proper sill dam. The easiest way to the sill angle is to use an angle finder available at most hardware stores. Set angle finder on sill and record the angle on the worksheet provided on page 5. 3 MEASURING THE OPENING (CONT D) STEP 3 SASH OPENING HEIGHT. Carefully the inside of the sash opening from the inside of the head jamb to where the inside face of the bottom sash meets the sill behind the stool. Measure in three locations: left, right and center. Use the smallest ment of the three and round down to the nearest 1/8". Record this ment on the worksheet provided. Head jamb Sash opening STEP 4 CHECK TO SEE IF FRAME IS SQUARE. In many cases you will find that one side of the window or the other has settled, pulling the unit out of square. This will affect any replacement sash placed in that opening. If the ments vary, you may need to adjust the sash opening d in Step 3. A). Measure from the inside corner of the sill and side jamb on the right side of the unit, up to the inside corner of the side jamb and head jamb on the left side. Repeat this step from the opposite corners. B). If the ments taken are within 1/8", then the unit is square. If the ments are greater than 1/8", then adjust as needed. Note: Measure directly behind stool. Measure from head jamb to sill. Page 3

4 MEASURING THE INSECT SCREEN STEP 5 - FULL INSECT SCREEN OPTION - MEASUREMENT Must be d and ordered after the sash kit has been installed for proper crosssbar location. Record ments on worksheet provided. INSECT SCREEN OPENING WIDTH. Measure the distance between the outside jamb. Subtract 1/8" from this dimension. This is your insect screen width. Outside jamb Insect screen opening width INSECT SCREEN OPENING HEIGHT. Measure the distance from the inside of the outside head down to the sill where the insect screen will rest. Subtract 1/8" from this dimension. This is your insect screen. CROSS BAR LOCATION. Measure from the top of the insect screen opening, down to the center of the check rail. Cross bar location Insect screen opening Outside head Cross bar location (center of check rail) STEP 5 - HALF INSECT SCREEN OPTION - MEASUREMENT Must be d and ordered after the sash kit has been installed. Record ments on worksheet provided. HALF INSECT SCREEN WIDTH. Measure the distance between each jamb liner (opening width) and add 7/8". This is your overall insect screen width. HALF INSECT SCREEN HEIGHT. Measure the distance between the bottom of top sash and sill (opening ). Subtract 5/16" from this dimension. Choose style: flanges on 2 sides or flanges on 3 sides.
