1 Installation instructions LIFT Backwash unit Important notes for the salon owner This technical information has been produced for your shopfitters. Remember to give them good advance warning so that your planned dates are met. Please give your shopfitters not only this information sheet but also the floor plan showing the exact position of the unit. May we point our that you should always have the PRE- INSTALLATION WORK and INSTALLATION WORK carried out by shopfitters and plumbers. It is the responsibility of the client s nominated plumber to ensure that all connections comply with The Water Supply Regulations In particular Schedule 2: Paragraph 15(1), which states Where a hose with a spray or jet is served from a tap, combination tap assembly or mixer fitting located over a wash basin, bath or shower tray, the zone of backflow risk should be ascertained. If the spray or jet on the end of the hose is capable of entering any washbasin, bath or shower tray located within the zone of backflow risk, a fluid category 3 backflow prevention device, such as a double check valve, should be provided on each inlet pipe to the appliance. We recommend a minimum of 30 p.s.i. water pressure for the supply of both hot and cold water at the hand set, for satisfactory results. The flow rate required is 12 litres per minute per basin. NO RESPONSIBILITY for unsatisfactory performance will be accepted by Welonda in the event that these instructions are ignored. Any deviation from these instructions should be only by prior consultation with Welonda.

3 PRE-INSTALLATION In order to ensure that the parallelogram functions correctly, the following installation advice should be adhered to. Floor Fixing Hot & Cold Water Feed Pipes Waste Pipes M 10 x 100 floor dowels In the floor: NW22 copper pipes with valve In the unit: Flexible pressure hoses with 3/8 B.S.P. male In the floor: NW50 PVC pipe; minimum drop 1:50 (DIN 1986; Part. 1, page 14). In the unit: NW40 waste pipe with siphon trap All backwashes supplied by Welonda contain 40 mm McAlpine waste pipes. Suitable arrangements should be made with your contractor to convert this to UK size pipework (generally 42 mm). Anti-stench device Hot water systems There is an anti-stench device in the unit. DO NOT ADD any further traps as this could cause problems to the water draining away. Only use high pressure systems. Low pressure systems are not suitable. Water Pressure required for optimum per-formance is 25 p.s.i. on the hot and cold feed at a flow rate of 12 litres per minute. Always comply with the local water regulations. Positioning See installation centres on the floor plan and diagrams in these instructions. NOTE: THIS UNIT CANNOT BE USED WITH ABOVE FLOOR PLUMBING. A FLOOR PLATE MUST ALWAYS BE USED.

4 Installation of floor plate 1 Mark the position of the drill holes for dowels according to floor-mounting plate and drill to a depth of approximately 110 mm with a 25 mm diameter drill bit, widening at the bottom to allow for correct anchorage of dowels. 2. When constructing the floor duct, adequate space should be allowed to accommodate the hot and cold service pipes and waste: 3. Fit dowels and bolts to metal floor plate and cement in with a quick setting cement. 4. The hot and cold feeds and waste can now be fixed to the floor-mounting plate. Test all connections for leakage after fixing. I M P O R T A N T! The floor plate should be fitted level and flush with the floor surface, and positioned to align with the direction of the seat. (Note: Services must enter from this direction.) If the M 10 x 30 bolts are not long enough, then use threaded rods and cut to sitze.
