9 DIGITAL IS EASY! So how do digital showers with wireless control work? Installation schematic To mains power supply Digital mixer unit Valve Outlet Cold Water Inlet Hot Water Inlet Wireless Controller Max 10 metres (free air) between the wireless controller and the digital mixer unit There are three parts that make up our digital showers with wireless control: the digital mixer unit (1), the wireless shower controller (2) and the showerhead and rail (3). The digital mixer is the brains of the shower, mixing hot and cold water supplies for the perfect showering temperature and flow of water to the shower. Unlike a typical shower mixer, the digital mixer unit can be mounted hidden from view and remote from the shower recess, for example in a cupboard, vanity unit or ceiling cavity. The wireless controller replaces conventional taps within the shower recess, enabling users to adjust both temperature and flow to suit their own comfort with the push of a button. With a choice of four styles, the wireless controllers offer a sleek, minimalist look to any bathroom and a second controller can be placed anywhere within 10 metres of the digital mixer unit. Each wireless controller is paired to the digital mixer unit and they communicate with each other to signal the temperature and flow rate required. 10 EASY TO FIT Using Mira Vision, we show you how easy it is for a licensed plumber to fit any Mira digital shower mixer with wireless control. Digital Mixer Unit To Mains Power Supply Hot inlet Inlet isolators Cold inlet Isolator Outlet Metal pipe must be earth bonded Mira Vision Wireless Controller and 360m Showerhead & Rail What you need to know about installing Mira digital Types of hot water systems: Mira digital mixers work with mains pressure systems such as hot water storage, gas continuous flow and heat pumps. Low pressure and gravity fed systems are not suitable. Power supply: 240VAC mains power is required for the digital mixer unit (black box). A 30mA residual current device (RCD) must be included in the electrical circuit. Wireless controller: The wireless controller is used instead of taps in your shower. It is installed in the shower recess and no cables are required. The wireless controller enables you to turn the shower on and off, as well as adjust the temperature and flow rate. It uses 3 x AA batteries and communicates wirelessly with the digital mixer unit. Digital mixer unit (black box): The digital mixer unit must be installed within 10 metres of the wireless controller. It can be installed in a ceiling cavity, a vanity or a cupboard and needs to be accessible for maintenance. The outlet pipework distance from the unit to the shower should be less than 5m. Water Connections: The digital mixer unit is supplied with brass hot and cold inlet and outlet tails, equivalent in diameter to 15mm copper pipe. This allows a licensed plumber to use their preferred plumbing fittings to connect the inlets to the hot and cold water and the outlet to the shower. The brass tails can be temporarily removed from the digital mixer unit so that plumbing fittings can be soldered to the tails, without damaging the unit. Pressures: Hot and cold inlet pressures should be nominally equal. This could be in the ceiling, a vanity or a cupboard. Hot and cold water needs to be connected to the digital mixer valve inlets. Decide where you want to put the showerhead and rail. Then screw the slide bar rail to the wall using the 4 screws provided. Step 3 Step 4 Decide where to locate the wireless controller in the shower recess (the digital mixer valve must be located within 10 metres of the wireless controller). It is simply attached to the wall using the 2 screws provided. After the pipework has been connected to the digital mixer unit, simply screw the shower hose and handset to the wall outlet.
