3 PREPARATIONS SUMMARY Check that delivery is undamaged and complete in accordance with the delivery note. Find the staircase drawing and read the assembly instructions before you start. CONNECTIONS TO WALL Connections to walls and floor are to withstand kn impact load. Bolts and fasteners for connection to walls and floor is not included in our delivery. Keep the boxes, platforms, and tubes separate according to our labeling. This is particularly relevant if the staircase has more than one level. Every stair level has its own assembly instruction and pole placement scheme. There is a stair and level reference on the first page of the assembly instructions folder. Center tubes, platforms and boxes are all marked with the stairs identification number and level. E.G: E. G for stair parts in ground level. E. G for stair parts in level 2. E. G for stair parts in level 3. PROTECTIVE CAGE FOUNDATION Check that the foundation is dimensioned for a total vertical load of 5 kn/m². The foundation should reach all the way to the supporting leg of the first step to enable proper stability. SUPPORTS If the staircase are higher than 4 meters, it needs to be lateral supported. Plan where the supports should be placed from the stairs total height. See table. Use both boltholes for attachment to the step. The support should follow the extended longitudinal direction of the stair side to provide optimal support effect. Fig 14 If the stair is delivered with a protective cage, the ten first poles are numbered. Mount the pole with the lowest number in the lowest position. Assemble according to separate assembly instructions. PLATFORMS Platforms of standardsize (stair radius + 50 mm) are mounted on the centerpipe before risen. Big platforms should be mounted to the facade with consoles before the center tube is mounted. Support and consolse should be mounted to additional platsforms before continuing. JOINTS Tall stairs with split center tubes are spliced with socket and three bolted connections. Spliced center tubes could be mounted on the ground to be lifted in sections. Important to support each section against the wall. 3

4 1 PLATFORM AND CENTER TUBE Platforms of standard sizes, (the stair radius + 50 mm) should be mounted on the centerpipe before raising it. Fig 1 1. Position the platform and make sure the center tube is vertical. 2. Fixate the platform to the facade with required bolts. Fig 2 3. Fixate the center tube to the center tube foot by tightening the set screw (M12) on the centerpipefoot. Fig 3 4. When the center tube is vertical and mounted to the platform, fixate the center tube foot with bolts intended for the base. Fig 1 Only walk/stand on steps that are secured with a pole mounted to an underlying step. Do not tighten the bolts all the way, you need some space to adjust the vertical poles position when mounting the handrail. Fig 2 The poles format varies depending if the poles are child-safe or not. The poles mounting positions are the same for standard poles and child-safety poles. Fig 3 4

5 2 STEPS AND POLES 5. Screw the bolt (M12) into the center tube, leave enough space to be able to connect the step. Fig 4 6. Mount the handrail pole to the first steps first hole with a socket head cap bolt. The bolt (M8 socket head) and the adjustable support leg is premounted in the first step at delivery. Fig 5 If the stair has a protective cage (see separate instruction) the first step will be mounted in the cage doorframe, and the handrail is attatched to the cage. 7. Fixate the steps by mounting the pole with pole bolts (M8) before you proceed with the next step. Fig 7 8. Keep mounting the steps all the way up the stair together with the poles. 6 Fig 7 POLE POSITIONS For left turning spiral staircase, c/c 270 mm between poles 9. Fixate the poles to the steps according to this drawing. The pole that connects the stair to the platform has extra boltholes (M10) and are marked Connecting pole for connection between step and platform on a green label. Fig 8 Fig 8 6

7 Fig 10 Fig 9 Start from the bottom and mount the handrail sections all the way up to the platform. NB! Check the mounting order on the handrail sections. Don t tighten bolts all the way until all handrail sections are in place. 3 HANDRAIL AND PLATFORM POLES 10. Adjust the steps to a horizontal position from the center tube, not leaning inward or outward. Adjust the poles to make sure they are vertical. 11. Mount the handrail section marked 1 onto the poles using a M6 bolt and a M6 locknut. (The marking are always counted from the ground and up Fig Connect the last handrail section to the handrail pole Mount the plastic plug in the handrail section at the platform. When all the handrail sections are in place, make sure the poles are vertical. Tighten the bolts in the handrailsleeves securly until they bulge a bit on the outside. Start from the platform and work your way down. 12. Connect the handrail sections with the handrail connections. Fig 10 NB! tighten sleeve loosely, don t tighten the sleevebolts fully at this point. 7

8 14. Mount the platform poles on the platform with M10 bolts. Fig Position the platform poles vertical and mount the platform handrails (M12). A bracket from the handrail on the platform will connect to the platform pole to provide stability. Fig Mount a plastic plug at the top of the center tube and in platform handrails. Fig 12 Fig Tighten all the pole bolts that connects the poles to the steps. 18. Tigthen all the bolts that connects the steps to the center pipe. (20-25 Nm force) 19. Then secure the adjustable support leg of the first railing pole to the underlying surface by using a bolt. Fig 13 Fig 12 Fig 13 8

9 Fig 14 SUPPORTS HEIGHT max 4 m DESCRIPTION Don t need any extra support against wall. Supports are included in case extra stability is required. 4-8 m 2 supports with 90 angle to eachother. Support against wall at half the heigth m 2 supports with 90 angle to eachother every 4 meters m 2 supports with 90 angle to eachother against the wall for every two metres, which stops at 22 metres. After 22 metres, this is done for every four metres m 2 supports with 90 angle to eachother up to every 1.5 metres, which stops at 12 metres, after 12 metres this is done for every two metres, which stops at 34 metres, and above 34 meters for every four metres. 9
