Print the guide for later reference, if you wish. 27

28 About teleporting and landmarks Teleporting is the fastest way to travel from one location to another. Although there are several ways to teleport, the main teleporting techniques include the Teleport Map, the World Map, or establishing your own teleporting landmarks. A landmark is a shortcut that allows you to relocate your avatar instantly to a specific location. Create your own landmarks for any location in the Army OneSource Community. Landmarks are stored in your Inventory and can be accessed directly from the Inventory or from within the World Map. To teleport using the Teleport Map 1. Navigate your avatar to the Visitor Information Center. Review the Army OneSource Community Teleport Map displayed on the wall. 2. Click the location to which you wish to teleport. You will receive the Landmark in the form of a note card. Fitness Center Landmark for teleporting 3. Click Keep. The following screen appears. Teleporting via the Teleport Map 4. Click Teleport. Your avatar is automatically transported to the location. 28

29 To create a landmark using the World Menu To teleport to a specific landmark, first create your landmark by using the World menu option. 1. Navigate your avatar to the desired landmark location. Select the World drop-down menu and Create Landmark Here. The new landmark is saved to your Inventory. There are two ways to quickly teleport yourself to landmarks. Use the Map button or double-click on the landmark in your Inventory / Landmarks folder. 2. Click the Map button. The World Map screen appears. World Map 3. Click the Landmarks drop-down, select the specific landmark, and click Teleport. Hot tip: If you know the location on the World Map, double-click the map location and instantly relocate to the specified location. To teleport back Home 1. Select the World drop-down menu and select Teleport Home. Note: Home is the location that you have established in the World / Set Home to Here option. 29

30 To send a teleport invitation If you wish to invite a resident to your location, send them a teleport invitation. 1. Click the Communicate button. Communicate window displaying the Teleport button 2. Click the individual/group to invite and click the Teleport button. Teleport invitation 3. Click OK. To delete a landmark 1. 32 Note: If your avatar goes suddenly bald after putting on a hat, then your avatar is wearing a hair object attached to your avatar s skull. When you chose the generic avatar upon registration, the avatar s outfit included a hair object which covered your bald avatar s skull. When you chose to wear a cap, the cap replaced the hair object and your avatar went bald! If this happens, go to your Inventory and find another hairstyle or edit your hairstyle using the Appearance tool. Hairstyles are either hair objects attached to your bald avatar s skull or hair appearance settings that can be manually set using the Appearance tool. Review the item in your Inventory to determine if items are an object or an appearance.. To get a new bubble wand / red or blue backpack / little red or blue car 1. Navigate your avatar to the Exchange and click the item. 2. Click Keep to save the item to your Inventory. Click Discard if you decide that you no longer want the item. 3. To toss or roll ball 1. Navigate your avatar to the Exchange and locate the beach ball or the basketball bin. 2. Click the ball and hold the left mouse button down to drag the ball. 3. To kick the ball, move your avatar toward the ball. The ball rolls as you move forward. Hot Tip: A few other ways to move the ball include, right clicking the ball and then clicking Touch. Another technique is to use the arrow keys and move your avatar toward the ball. Another easy way to move the ball is to press the Ctrl key down while dragging the ball. Try these techniques out and see what works for you! 32
