21 Autobiography- The Professor I know, The Professor - it s quite the pretentious moniker, but it s not a name I gave myself. I grew up in Scotland, though I think it s a Scotland you re likely not familiar with. When I was a wee boy, I found a delightfully mysterious device. To this day, I don t know how it works, but through trial and error, I discovered that it could analyze things, show me how they work, and tell me what they re made of. The device lit a fire in me to learn and discover. The other children were cruel- they didn t understand the importance of my work and my peers and adults alike started teasing me, calling me Professor in the most patronizing way. I had few friends throughout my early years, but I persisted in my scholarly pursuits. Knowledge was my friend and the thrill of discovery my constant companion. As people began to see how my life s work could benefit them, my moniker slowly changed from a pejorative to a title of respect. I forgave the people who had tormented me as a child- well, mostly. I quickly found that I had no patience for fools and men who willingly choose ignorance and mediocrity, that aside, I knew there was much more to learn outside of my hometown and so I set off to travel the world. I recently detected the strangest pattern of gravitational fluctuation that shouldn t be possible on the surface of a planet and being me, I ran straight towards it to investigate. When I reached the spot where the anomalies originated, I found myself in a different world, I found myself in Evermore. Since I ve been here, I ve seen things that shouldn t exist. Being a man of science, I didn t believe in faeries, vampires, ghosts, dragons, or magic. But now, having seen them and spent hours observing and now, I do believe I ve stumbled upon one of the greatest discoveries ever! Magic is just science we don t understand yet and I intend to get to the bottom of it! 21
