3 SS VYNER BROOKE 20 Since its first release in 2010, the Royal Australian Mint has struck a 99.9% pure silver 21mm one dollar annually with the Kangaroo at Sunset design. This stunning proof truly captures the spirit of Australia, depicting a lone 'roo crossing Australia's plains with its shadow cast by the sun. The obverse has the cista (or cista mystica) which was a basket used for housing sacred snakes in connection with the initiation ceremony into the cult of Bacchus (Dionysus).
