We have planned some activities to keep the children positively engaged. We seek your support to keep a supervisory eye and lend your support and motivation to your children. Your guidance and encouragement can go a long way in bringing out latent talents. Let them make a timetable and learn to balance work and play so that they can complete the given project well in time and to the best of their ability. Please note the following:- Make your child read Hindi and English story books and children s Science magazines. Encourage them to undertake creative writing (both in Hindi and English) and practice sums. To make them aware of their surroundings tell them to watch various informative T.V. Channels like Discovery Channel, National Geographic Channel, History Channel and Animal Planet. Last but not the least, let them practice English and Hindi writing to improve their hand writing. Create dialogues full of humour or wit between these characters, suiting the modern(india) times/issues.(electricity, shortage of water, pollution, junk food, growing indiscipline in children).your story should contain a moral and a solution(a-4 size sheet) Activity 2: (Roll nos. 1-20) Festivals Pick up a poem written by any Indian poet depicting any Indian festival (the poem should be in English), write it on an A-4 size sheet and learn it for recitation in the class. Activity 3: (For all the children) Write an article on the topic The City of my Dreams (given on the HT masthead provided to you) on an A4 size sheet (word limit upto 350 words) and paste at the back of the masthead. Draw / paste images /photographs in the space provided on front. Be very creative. The best articles will be rewarded. 9 Name: Class/Sec: Subject: EVMS THE DRY DESERT To the west of Aravalli Hills, in the state of Rajasthan lies a hot, dry and sandy desert. It is known as The Great Indian desert or The Thar Desert.The climate here is quite harsh. Days are hot and nights are cool in summers. Date palms, keekars and babuls grow here.the life of people in the desert is very difficult. Due to lack of rainfall there is very little water in the desert. Water from river Satluj has been brought to the desert through Rajasthan canal.animal rearing is an important activity in the desert. The camel is the most important animal of the desert and is called The ship of the desert. 9

13 Activity 14: Creative Art Gallery ( any one activity ) a)madhubani Art During summer vacation get yourself acquainted with a very unique and beautiful form of Art known as Madhubani. MADHUBANI art is an Indian style of folk art, originated in Bihar, Madhubani paintings mostly depict man & his association with nature and deities from the ancient epics. Natural objects like the sun, the moon, and religious plants like tulsi are also widely painted, along with scenes from the royal court and social events like weddings. Generally no space is left empty; the gaps are filled by paintings of flowers, animals, birds, and even geometric designs. On the paper provided to you, leave a border of 1 cm on all sides, draw and colour a Madhubani painting on any topic of your choice. You can get ideas from internet.
