The Giving Tree by Shel Silverstein Complete the information after you have read the book. 1. Name of the book. 2. Name of the author. 3. Name the main characters of the story. 4. What did you like the best in the story? Write a short paragraph on it. (Do it in A-4 size sheet) Roll No Q2. Write a letter to the newspaper editor expressing your concern about the increased amount of destruction of the forest resources and how can it be stopped. (Take the reference of Chipko Movement). Material required Old plastic bottle, 2 sticks, brown tape, a small potted plant.link - ( ( Roll No 01-12) 2. Parts of flower Make a model of parts of flower. Terrace Farming 4.Curb pollution Make a model of terrace farming. Material required Thermacol / cardboard, artificial plants, grass, soil, clay, postercoloursetc Link -( (Roll No 25-36) You are alarmed at the way pollution in your city has increased in the recent years. Find out and write the name of various species of trees in your surrounding which reduce pollution. Paste pictures and decorate it beautifully (on an A3 size sheet) ( All students ) Plant a Tree, Grow a Flower, Let s give mother Earth, back her power!

4 Social Studies Question 1: Collect pictures of some sacred and ceremonial trees such as (Peepal, Banyan, Ashoka, Coconut, Mango, Neem, and Sandalwood etc) paste these pictures in scrapbook and prepare a brief write up according to the pictures (as where they are found? What are their benefits? Decorate your scrapbook in an attractive way. Material required: Scrap book, pictures of different trees, sketch pens, decorative tapes for borders. (Question 1 is compulsory for all) Question 2:Think of catchy slogans to save paper and save trees.make beautiful attractive colorful poster in A3 sheet. Material required: A3 Sheet, sketch pens, marker, crayons or poster colors, decorative tapes for borders. (Question 2:Roll NO: 1 to 17) Question 3: Trees around us are being cut down in large number to fulfill our needs. Many animals and birds lose their home when trees are cut down. Trees are very important for our survival.make a small model on thermocol or card board showing how trees are useful for us, what we get from trees. What are the benefits of planting trees? Prepare an informative model. Material required: Thermocol or card board, plastic trees and animals or clay for making those things which we get from trees, sketch pen for writing information on model. White sheet for headings. 5 MATHEMATICS Activity 1: Symmetry (compulsory) Take 10 different leaves, cut them along their line of symmetry. Dry them and paste them on A4 size pastel sheets. Also write the name of the tree from which the leaf had been taken. Materials Required: A-4 size pastel sheets, 10 different leaves, scissors, adhesive,markers. Activity 2: Perimeter (Roll no. 1 to 20) Take leaves of 5 different trees. Measure their perimeter using thread or wool. Paste the leaves on pastel sheet and write their perimeter in centimetres. Materials Required:Thread or wool, A-4 size pastel sheets, 5 different leaves, adhesive, scissors, ruler, markers and sketch pens. Activity 3: Area (Roll no. 21 to 35) Take leaves of 4 different trees and trace their boundary on graph sheet. Estimate the area by counting squares ( one square cm for each square half covered or more AND zero foreach square which is covered less than half). On the graph sheet write the area of leaf and paste all leaves on separate pastel sheet. Club the graph sheets and pastel sheet in a folder Materials Required: Graph sheets, pastel sheet, pencil, adhesive, hand made folder or file, Pencils colours, markers. COMPUTER APPLICATION- PROJECT: DESIGN A PAGE USING MS WORD SOFTWARE ON REDUCE THE USAGE OF PAPER TO SAVE TREES AND BRING PRINT OUT OF ON A4 SHEET MATERIAL REQUIRED: SOFTWARE : MS WORD (USING TOOLS LIKE SHAPES, FONT, BORDER,COLORS ETC.) REFER: INTERNET, BOOKS, NEWS PAPER
