The story will be based on the theme Save Trees : One day I was walking in the park. I was tired and saw a big shady mango tree. I sat down under the tree and was feeling sleepy. Suddenly, someone called my name... Roll No Compose a poem of your own on the topic Save Trees on a A4 size pastel sheet with colourful pictures using the following beginning: Trees: the heart of our earth, The breathe of a human being..
3 MATHEMATICS 1. How to calculate height of the tree by its shadow?( Roll No- 1 to 18 ) Materials Required: i. A-4 size sheet ii. Metre ruler iii. Pencil/Pen iv. Ribbon/Tape Procedure: i. Look out for atleast 3 trees, whose height you want to find. This is a method for a bright sunny day. Place a metre ruler upright on the ground and locate the shadow. ii. Along the length of the shadow place a piece of ribbon or a tape. This is now a shadow metre and can be used to measure the shadow of the tree in metres. iii. iv. Hence, height of the shadow will help in determining the height of the tree. Draw a table, and write the height of the trees you found. Name of thetree Height 2. How to determine the age of a tree without cutting it? (Roll No- 19 to 35) Materials required: i. A-4 size sheet ii. Colour pencil/pen iii. scale Unique rings or circles are present on the tree called as growth rings. The growth rings are created every year when a brand new layer of wood is added to the branches and trunk of the tree. For example, if a tree has 65 dark circles or rings, it is 65 years old. Using this information, calculate the age of any 5 trees around your home and write it in a table: Name of the tree Age 3. How to calculate the volume of a tree trunk? (For All) Materials Required: i. Measuring tape ii. A-4 sheet iii. Metre scale iv. Colour pencil/ Pen Procedure: i. Take a measuring tape, and measure the circumference of the tree trunk. Divide this measure by 3.14(pi). Again divide this answer by 2 to find the radius of the respective tree.
4 ii. iii. A very simple model consists out of assuming the trunk cylindrical. When we call the radius of the cylinder r and the height h. We can obtain the volume V of the tree by: Find the volume of atleast 3 trees by using the value of r from point(i) and value of h from activity 1. Fill the table respectively: Name of the tree radius Height volume SCIENCE 1. MAGIC CRYSTAL TREE [ Roll No. 1 to 12] Make a model of it by using the following materials. HYDROPONIC GARDENING [ Roll No. 13 to 23] Make a model of it by using the following materials. RAINFOREST IN A SHOEBOX [ Roll No. 24 to 36] Make a model of it by using the following materials. Material required:- Shoebox, thermocol, artificial grass or plants, pebbles, poster colours
5 4. HABITATS OF PLANTS[ Roll No. 1 to 36] Collect pictures of plants growing in different habitats. Sort these pictures into terrestrial and aquatic plants, and then paste them in your scrapbook. Mention information related to their climate, vegetation and rivers under these pictures. You can take help from internet and from your science book ch-5. Note: 1) Question 1 is compulsory for the whole class. SOCIAL STUDIES 2) Question 2,3,4 is according to the roll numbers. 1. Draw a picture of a tree on a chart paper and label all the benefits you get from it. Ex : Rubber, Wood etc { Roll no : 1 to 10} 2.Prepare a model of your own that gives the message If trees will not be there, our earth will destroy. You can take the help from the given illustration. { Roll no: 11 to 20} 3. In a scrap book, paste the pictures of 5-6 medicinal plants and mention their medicinal uses. { Roll no : 21 to 36} 4. Explore and write the ways in which students can contribute towards nurturing nature. Make a poster on our Friendly Forest depicting all that we get from them.
