Armor The armor used for the project was made by Bobamaker.

The knee launchers are also Bobamakers. They are made of alluminium.

A base coat of Humbrol Silver 11 was used.

Maskol is used to highlight the areas where the silver colour will appear on the armour.

2 Armor The armor used for the project was made by Bobamaker. This included the Shoulders, Chest Plate and Diamond, Ab Plate, Crotch and Butt Plate, Back Plate and Knees. The knee launchers are also Bobamakers. They are made of alluminium. The gauntlets were made by RS Propmasters The armour was already primed by Bobamaker. A base coat of Humbrol Silver 11 was used. Stencils created by Rafalfett on The Dented Helmet were used to mimic the battle damage. Maskol is used to highlight the areas where the silver colour will appear on the armour. The Rafalfett stencils below show where the silver is placed. Comparisons can be made against the photos above. Note: The Rafalfett stencil for the back plate is too large include in this document. I have copied and pasted below the completed colours for the backplate. You can easily identify the silver areas here

I then used the maskol again over the yellow areas. This meant in some cases I was masking over masking fluid that was already used on the silver areas.

3 Armor (cont.) On the chest plates, & diamond, collar plate, cod piece & butt plate and back plate, the next colour to be used is Humbrol Yellow 81. Rather then spraying the entire armor with Yellow 81, I just sprayed it in areas where I knew the yellow appears on the armor. I then used the maskol again over the yellow areas. This meant in some cases I was masking over masking fluid that was already used on the silver areas. The photos below show were the yellow will be placed on the armour. The masking fluid that is over the yellow paint is the area that will be protected before the next colour is applied

4 Armor (cont.) The diagrams below show exactly where the yellow is to be applied on the armour. These diagrams can be crossed referenced with the photos on the preceding page. One the maskol on the yellow paint dried the final coat went over all of these pieces. The colour used was Humbrol 78. When the paint cured over 24 hours, the maskol was then removed to expose the layered effect below. The photos below are compared to the final Rafalfett designs

6 Armor (cont.) The knees were tackled next. The colours used for the knees were Humbrol 11 Metallic Silver, Humbrol 103 Yellow, Humbrol 154 Yellow and a light misting of Humbrol 82 Orange. The same layered technique was used as the armor using maskol on each layer and peeling everything off when the painting was finished. 7 Armor (cont.) I purchased the gauntlets from a member of the Dented Helment (Hames14). The only things I had to do with the gauntlets myself was to add the hoses. They were soaked in coffee for a week to give a stained appearance. I measured out the hoses so they were the right size from the arm to the shoulder. I drilled holes through each hose and threaded through key ring rings through each hole. I then connected them to a female belt connecter. The male belt connector is sewn into the shoulder sleeve of the flight suit. The final two photos above show the stained hoses and the placement of the functioning LED on the right gauntlet

I researched the ROTJ helmet for months on TDH. It was important for me to get the colours right and to find the right stencils to get the helmet as accurate as possible.

After a huge amount of research on what was right and what was wrong I decided to go for the paint chart below that is on TDH. Once again I decided to use the Rafalfett Stencils for the helmet. An enormous amount of research has gone into the Rafalfett stencils and so many helmets across the world have been made using these stencils I came to the conclusion that these stencils are the definitive version of the ROTJ Helmet With regard to the colours used on the helmet, I didn t deviate from a single Humbrol colour on the paint charts on this page and the following page

With regard to the painting technique, everything was airbrushed. The only exception was the red dental files which were hand painted and a little touching up on the kill stripes.

I used a layering technique which I will go over on the next few pages. I started with the back panels, followed by the dome, the lower cheeks, the upper cheeks, the mandibles and finally the keyslots at the back. Once again I used the layering technique and once again I painted liquid maskol over maskol. It had proven effective on my armor so I planned to use the same technique again

I left the paint cure for 24 hours and removed the maskol I moved on to the dome then. I covered the rest of the helmet to protect it from overspray. I had already painted the entire helmet Humbrol Metallic Silver so I just need to use my maskol again to protect the areas I wanted to remain silver. I used Rafalsfetts stencils for this as a guide but I also used the colour paint chart as a guide also. The Rafalfett stencil is 22 pages long so for the purposes of this presentation I will include the Humbrol Paint by numbers colour chart as a guide. Below are some photos of the paint job on the dome with the usual masking tecnique. Colours used are all identicla to what is on the paint by numbers chart

13 For the kill stripes I once again maked up and used maskol for the battle damage. The colour used for the battle damage was Humbrol Orange 82 Once the kill stripes were completed I then used the Rafal Fett stencils to do the upper and lower cheeks. The upper cheeks were sprayed black with Humbrol 33. Then misted with grey 79 and green 78. The lower cheeks were grey 31 and green 78. Damage was with grey 79, grey 67 and grey 31 Mandibles, rim around the helmet and key slots were all tackled next. Once again the masking technique was used again. Everything was already painted earlier Humbrol Metallic Silver 11. The other main colours used were Humbrol Red 73 & Humbrol Red 100 Mixed at a ratio 1:1. Gunmental 53 and Grey 79. Below are the Rafal Fett stencils and the areas masked by maskol for the silver damage

14 The final two colours are added to the mandibles, the grey and the final red. When the paint is fully cured the maskol was peeled off. Below are the Rafal Fett Stencils and the final photos of the completed mandibles The helmet rim is tackled next. Silver Humbrol 11 is already on the rim so maskol is placed on the areas that I want silver to remain on the rim. Below are the Rafalfett stencils where the silver is masked.

15 The next colour is grey is grey 79. As usual maskol is placed on the areas where I want to protect the grey. Once the paint is cured over 24 hours the final red colour is applied to the rim The completed rim with the actual helmet along with Rafal Fett Stencils
