2 FIREMAN S SUIT FOR YOUR DOLL Pattern fits any 18 dolls like American Girl dolls Pattern is for Advanced Knitter Yarn: 1 skein each color (mustard yellow or gold, bright yellow, silver, black and red) Vanna s Choice Lion Brand Worsted yarn. Each skein contains 3 oz / 85 g /145 yds / 133 m Needles: 4 or 5 double-pointed needles #7 16 circular needle #7 Crochet hook: 5/H Other supplies: 6 large snaps Gauge: 4 sts = 1 (2.5 cm) PANTS Starting at bottom of legs, using 4 or 5 dpt needles, cast on 32 sts. Join ends, working in the round. Knit in St sts as flws: (a) 3 rows mustard yellow/gold (b) 1 row black (c) 3 rows bright yellow (d) 1 row black (e) 3 rows silver (f) 1 row black (g) 3 rows bright yellow (h) 1 row black Cont in mustard yellow until leg measures 5 (12 ¾ cm). Put sts on st holder and knit other leg the same. Put legs tog by putting all sts on 4 or 5 needles or circular needle. Keep knitting in the round, but on the first row add 2 sts at inseam of each leg (68 sts) until piece measures 4 ¾ (12 cm) from inseam where you joined the legs, divide front and back (34 sts on each side). Front: Cast off 5 sts at beg of next 2 rows (24 sts) Cast off 2 sts at beg of next 2 rows (20 sts) Cast off 1 sts at beg of next 4 rows (16 sts) Knit 2 rows. Cast off. Back: Cast off 5 sts at beg of next 2 rows (24 sts) Cast off 3 sts at beg of next 2 rows (18 sts) Cast off 2 sts at beg of next 2 rows (14 sts) Cast off. Sew pants tog at inseam. Sc 1 row around front and back. Make 2 knee patches using grey yarn and 2 needles, cast on 6 sts and knit back and forth until patch measures 1 ¼ (3 cm). Cast off. These patches are sewn onto the middle of the front of legs approx. 1 (2.5 cm) above last black row. Make 2 pockets using mustard yellow or gold yarn and 2 needles, cast on 10 sts and knit back and forth until pocket measures 1 ½ (4 cm). The next 4 rows are knit reversed so the knit side has purl rows and the purl side has knit rows. Cast off. Fold pocket over so the last 4 rows will show as knit to the outside as a flap over the first knit sts. Sew pockets to each side of pants, approx. 5 ½ (14 cm) from bottom of leg so half of pocket is over the front and the other half over the back of pants on each side. Suspenders: Using red yarn and 2 needles cast on 4 sts and knit back and forth in St sts until each piece measures 7 ½ (19 cm). Cast off. Sc 1 row around each piece. Sew each piece to the back of pants, crossing over in the back. Sew 1 part of snap at backside of each piece and the other part of snap to the top front of pants. 2.FiremansSuit.10181

3 JACKET Back: Using mustard yellow or gold yarn and 2 needles cast on 30 sts. Knit back and forth in St sts, following the same stripe pattern as on bottom of legs (from (a) to (h)). Cont in mustard yellow or gold until back measures 4 ½ (11 ½ cm). Repeat the stripe pattern rows from (a) to (h). Knit 3 more rows in mustard yellow or gold, then cast off. Fronts: Using mustard yellow or gold yarn and 2 needles cast on 15 sts. Knit in same stripe pattern as the back, but when piece measures 6 ¾ (17 cm), cast off at neck edge as flws: 1. 5 sts once (10 sts) 2. 4 sts once (6 sts) When front pieces measure same as back, cast off. Sleeves: Using mustard yellow or gold yarn and 2 needles cast on 25 sts. Inc. 1 st at beg and end of every 6 th row twice (29 sts). Follow stripe pattern (a) to (h), then finish sleeve in mustard yellow or gold until sleeve measures 4 ½ (11 ½ cm). Cast off Finishing: Sew side seams of sleeves tog. Sew shoulder seams tog. Sew sides of jacket tog, leaving enough space to fit the sleeves. Sew the sleeves into armholes. Collar: Using mustard yellow or gold yarn and circular needle (it is easier when you knit a collar, even when you knit back and forth), pick up 36 sts around each front piece and back of jacket. Knit 4 rows in St sts with knit sts to the outside of collar. Cast off. Front panel: Using mustard yellow or gold yarn and 2 needles cast on 8 sts. Knit in same stripe pattern as each front of jacket, ending with 1 row in mustard yellow or gold yarn. Cast off. Sc 1 row around entire panel. Attach to left front with half of panel covering left edge of front and the other half of panel to be folded over the right front. Sew in piece of each 4 snaps along right front edge to correspond with the other pieces of each 4 snaps on the backside of panel part that is folded over the right front piece. HAT Using black yarn and circular needle cast on 100 sts. Join ends, working in the round. Put a marker at beg of rows. Knit as flws: Rows 1 and 2: Knit Row 3: *K8, k2tog* to end of row (90 sts) Rows 4 and 5: Knit Row 6: *K7, k2tog* to end of row (80 sts) Row 7: Knit Row 8: *K6, k2tog* to end of row (70 sts) Row 9: Knit Row 10: *K5, k2tog* to end of row (60 sts) (at this point it is easier if you change to 4 or 5 needles) Row 11: Knit Row 12: *K4, k2tog* to end of row (50 sts) Divide sts as flws, putting markers at each division: 10 sts at front, 14 sts at each side and 12 sts at back, making the middle of the 12 sts in the back as beg of row. Cont knitting in the round, but keeping the markers at the divisions, until piece measures 4 ¼ (11 cm).
